Anton’s: Old-New-York Cooking on Hudson Street, 11am to 11pm

Anton’s is the West Village doing its best 1950s impression, sincerely: a landmarked 1850s corner room at Hudson and W 11th, martinis with a house name, oysters Rockefeller, and doors open 11am to 11pm every day. The famous 25-cent-martini stunt is long gone — no happy hour runs here now — but the room never needed one.

What to Expect✓ Checked July 2026

Anton’s doesn’t currently run a happy hour — the 25¢ martini promotion ended back in 2022, and no discounted window is posted today.

Aggregator listings claiming $1 oysters here don’t hold up against the actual menu (oysters Rockefeller run $29 a half dozen). If Anton’s posts a real happy hour, we’ll update this page.

About Anton’s

Nick Anderer and Natalie Johnson’s restaurant occupies the landmarked 1850s Greek Revival corner that long housed Frankie’s 570 — mahogany, wrought-iron windows, vintage tableware, dramatic flowers. The cooking is seasonal European-American with old-New-York recipes played straight: angel hair Francese, strip steak Lorenz, oysters Rockefeller.

What to Expect at the Bar

No happy hour — and worth saying plainly, because stale listings still promise one: the 25¢ lunch martini made headlines in early 2022 and was shut down by the State Liquor Authority within weeks; the $1-oyster claims floating around don’t survive a look at the menu. What Anton’s actually offers is steadier — an 11am-11pm day, a weekday luncheon, weekend brunch, and the Icebox Martini at the bar with walk-in space always held. Reserve the window seat; that’s the deal here.

What to Order

The Anton’s Icebox Martini to start, oysters Rockefeller ($29/half dozen) if you’re celebrating, and the hand-cut angel hair Francese ($23) — the quiet star. The strip steak Lorenz ($49) is the anniversary order. Lunch 11-3 weekdays is the sleeper move: same room, calmer pace.

The Space & Vibe

Warm, wood-paneled, and deliberately out of time — vintage plates, florals by Fox Fodder Farm, a bar with a spirited hum, and a sidewalk patio for Hudson Street watching. It draws dates, regulars in blazers, and anyone nostalgic for a New York they may never have actually lived in.

The West Village Angle

Hudson and W 11th, two blocks up from Cowgirl and around the corner from the White Horse Tavern block — the 1 at Christopher St and the A/C/E/L at 14th St-8th Ave bracket the walk. Open seven days, 11am-11pm, which for this stretch of Hudson is practically civic infrastructure.
