Due West: A West Village Cocktail Bar With Draft Cocktails and $1.50 Oysters
Due West is an elevated-but-approachable cocktail bar and gastropub on West 10th, the kind of room that earns repeat visits because the drink program rewards attention. The beverage list comes from former Locanda Verde cocktail director Jess Goldfarb, and the signature move is cocktails on draft — including a Green-Witch built on Greenhook Ginsmith gin, absinthe, saffron and toasted rosemary — plus house-canned cocktails sold in six-packs to go.
Navy crushed-velvet banquettes, rotating art from Chelsea’s ACA Galleries, and big-screen TVs for the game give it range: pre-dinner drinks, a date, or a spot to watch a match. The happy hour is genuinely good value for the West Village, which is not a phrase you get to write often.
The Happy Hour
The draft cocktails are the lead story — same cocktails as always, just at happy-hour pricing:
- Monday–Thursday 5–7pm, Friday 4–6pm
- $11–12 draft cocktails, $1.50 oysters (six minimum), $6 draft beer, $9 wine, and a $14 shot-and-a-shorty
- Tuesday — $7 burger and fries via the Blackbird loyalty app
- Beer & a Sandy — a free draft beer comes with any sandwich order during happy hour
A half-dozen oysters at $9 with a $12 Paloma is a complete early evening for around $21.
The Cocktails
The drafts carry it — the Green-Witch, a draft Paloma — alongside large-format shareable drinks and a “Due Your Own Old Fashioned” menu with a range of bitters, sugars and spirits. There’s a serious spirits list running Covalle Tomato Water Gin and Sotol Por Siempre next to the usual suspects, plus those house-canned cocktails to take home.
The Food
Elevated pub fare built to pair with the bar: crispy chicken and Maine-style lobster sliders, a beer-battered baja fish taco, Grandma’s hush puppies, burrata bruschetta, a smash burger, a fried chicken sandwich, and a Maine-style lobster roll. Weekend brunch runs Saturday and Sunday, noon to 3pm.
The Room
About 1,500 square feet of navy velvet banquettes and rotating ACA Galleries art, with big-screen TVs switched on for the big game. It handles everything from a stool at the bar to a full buyout, and Monday is trivia night. Cozy and well-dressed without being precious.
