The best Queens happy hours aren’t a compromise on Manhattan β€” they’re cheaper, more interesting, and worth the train. Astoria runs the Mediterranean taverns and NYC’s oldest beer garden; Long Island City pairs dollar oysters with a Manhattan-skyline rooftop; Sunnyside is an Irish-pub town where The Courtyard Ale House pours $5 everything from 11am; Jackson Heights does $4 margaritas, a self-pour beer wall, and live Latin jazz; and Ridgewood is the Bushwick overflow with shorter lines and $1 oyster Wednesdays. Use the map to jump to your block, or read on for the moves worth making tonight β€” every deal priced, timed, and checked, updated for 2026.

The rundown

How to work Queens happy hour

Queens is the biggest borough and the best value β€” the trick is knowing which neighborhood matches the night you want. Here’s how the map breaks down.

Western Queens is the after-work belt. Astoria and Long Island City sit one stop from Manhattan and pour like it β€” LIC stacks rooftop bars and dollar-oyster cocktail rooms along the waterfront with a skyline view, while Astoria runs Greek taverns, a craft taproom in SingleCut, and Bohemian Hall, the oldest beer garden in the city (1910). Just east, Sunnyside is the value heart of the borough: Queens Boulevard Irish pubs and sports bars where The Courtyard Ale House pours $5 drafts, mixed drinks, and wine every day from 11am to 7pm, and McGuinness’s stays open till 4am.

Deeper in, the happy hour gets cheaper and more global. Jackson Heights is a food neighborhood first β€” the drinking runs from $4 margaritas and 45-cent wings at El Coyote to a dark second-floor cocktail room (Upstairs, $10–12 cocktails, cash only) to a self-pour beer wall and live Latin jazz at Terraza 7. And Ridgewood, on the Brooklyn border, has quietly become the move for anyone priced out of Bushwick: $1 oysters on Wednesdays at Porchlight, $5 drafts and $12 burgers up and down Myrtle Avenue, and a 1934 bakery for the morning after.

On timing and value: Queens happy hours skew cheaper and longer than Manhattan’s β€” $5 pints, eight-hour windows, and deals that actually include the whole list, not just the wells nobody wants. Most run 4–7 or 4–8pm, but the Sunnyside and Jackson Heights pubs open earlier and the Irish saloons run till 4am. The trade is the train β€” but it’s one stop on the 7 from Manhattan to LIC, and the prices drop the moment you cross the river. After something specific? We break it out by $1 oyster deals, Irish bars, and dive bars in the roundups too.

Queens happy hour FAQ

What time does happy hour start in Queens?
Most Queens happy hours run 4–7 or 4–8pm, but the borough opens earlier than most. In Sunnyside, The Courtyard Ale House pours $5 deals every day from 11am to 7pm. Jackson Heights spots mostly run 4–8, and the Queens Boulevard Irish saloons stay open till 4am. Weekends are thinner, so check the neighborhood guide before you go.
Which Queens neighborhood has the best happy hours?
For value and length, Sunnyside β€” $5 everything for eight hours a day. For a skyline and dollar oysters, Long Island City. For range β€” Greek taverns, a craft taproom, and the oldest beer garden in the city β€” Astoria. Ridgewood is the Bushwick-adjacent cool, and Jackson Heights is the cheapest and most global.
Where are the cheapest drinks in Queens?
The Courtyard Ale House in Sunnyside ($5 select drafts, mixed drinks, and wine, 11am–7pm daily) is the value king. In Jackson Heights, El Coyote runs reported $4 margaritas and 45-cent wings, and the self-pour Queens Beer Factory lets you pour by the ounce. Ridgewood has $5 drafts up and down Myrtle Avenue, and Bliss 46 in Sunnyside does $4.50 beers.
Is Queens cheaper than Manhattan or Brooklyn for happy hour?
Generally, yes β€” Queens is the best value of the three. You’ll find $5 pints, longer windows, and deals that include the full list rather than a couple of well drinks. The trade is the trip, but LIC is one stop on the 7 from Midtown. If you’re comparing, see our Manhattan and Brooklyn happy hour guides.
What’s the most unique happy hour in Queens?
A few only-in-Queens nights: Bohemian Hall in Astoria, the oldest beer garden in the city (1910), pouring Czech and Slovak beer in a tree-shaded yard; live Latin jazz with a daily 4–8pm happy hour at Terraza 7 in Jackson Heights; and dollar oysters by the 7 train in Long Island City with the Manhattan skyline behind you.

Happy hour deals change, and not always with notice. We check and date every listing, but the bar is the final word β€” confirm before you make the trip. Last updated June 2026.
