Friday Happy Hour
in NYC

The night most happy hours quietly clock off. These 33 don’t.

Friday happy hours run from 11am to 4am — ten start before noon.

  • 33 verified spots
  • 9hrs longest Friday window
  • oysters from $1
  • running till 4am

Friday happy hour in NYC is the one that quietly disappears. These are the 33 bars that still run a real one — verified this week on each venue’s own site. The best of them right now: Grey Lady on Delancey holds $1 oysters for six hours, 1 to 7pm. John Doe in NoMad runs nine straight hours, 11am to 8pm, and actually cuts prices on a Friday. Down the Hatch in the West Village flips to a $10 beer-and-shot until 4am. Continental in FiDi runs 11am to 8pm plus FryBar Fridays. And Bronx Alehouse does eight hours and $10 plates in Kingsbridge. Grouped by how you are playing the night — and at the bottom, the bars whose happy hour stops before Friday even starts.

FryBar Fridays is the reason this is the Friday pick rather than just a long window. The weekday happy hour runs 11am to 8pm, and Friday layers its own menu on top: $8 fries, sweet potato fries, tater tots and cajun fries, $12 for truffle or loaded, $25 buckets of ADIOS seltzers or 12oz Heinekens, $25 pitchers of Michelob and $30 of Bitburger, $15 food combos and $10 shooters. The why: it is the best group-priced Friday I could verify anywhere in lower Manhattan — one bucket and one pitcher feeds four people for less than two Midtown cocktails, in a room with seventy screens and no velvet rope.

Friday’s longest windows

Six hours or more, every one of them verified on the venue’s own site. These are the bars that treat Friday like any other weekday — which, as the rest of this page shows, is rarer than it should be.

John Doe Craft Bar & Kitchen On now

craft-beer bar with a nine-hour clock · 253 Fifth Ave, NoMad $$$
$1 oysters, $5 pints, $11 featured cocktailsTGIF! menu
FridayDaily 11am–8pm

Nine hours is the longest happy hour on this page, and Friday is the day it gets cheaper. John Doe runs the same 11am–8pm window every day, but Friday swaps in a menu they call TGIF!: featured cocktails drop from $12 to $11, house wine drops from $7 to $6, and $6 select craft beers and $5 shot specials appear that aren’t there Monday. It is the only place I found where Friday is a discount on the discount. The local move: the $1 oysters are the reason to come, and at 5pm on a Fifth Avenue Friday you can still get a seat. The honest caveat: their own site can’t agree on when the oysters stop — the banner says the happy hour ends at 8pm, the TGIF menu says oysters are “all day.” Go before 8 and the question never comes up.

Bronx Alehouse On now

neighbourhood alehouse, bar open till 4am · 216 W 238th St, Kingsbridge, Bronx $$$
$2 off drafts, wells & wine; $10 plateseight hours
FridayMon–Fri 11am–7pm

Eight hours, and it is the only Bronx entry on this page — which says more about the guides than about the Bronx. Eleven in the morning to seven at night, Monday to Friday, $2 off every well drink, draft and glass of wine. The real value is the $10 bites: a quarter-pounder with fries, fish strips and fries, or wings and mac. That is a full meal at a price Manhattan stopped offering around 2015. The why: a bar that runs to 4am and still discounts at 11am is a bar built for its neighbourhood, not for a listicle. The honest caveat: it is a discount, not a fixed price, and they don’t publish what the base pours cost — so the $10 plates are the sure thing. Parties of six or more get an automatic 20% gratuity.

Blend on the Water On now

waterfront Latin kitchen facing the skyline · 45-40 Center Blvd, Long Island City, Queens $$$
$9 frozen margaritas & sangria, $6 draftseight hours
FridayMon–Fri 11am–7pm

Eight hours of $9 frozen drinks with the Manhattan skyline directly across the water, and almost nobody outside Queens knows it exists. Mojitos, margaritas, caipirinhas, sangria and every frozen on the list are $9 until 7pm. Drafts are $6, select wines $9, Don Julio and Jack shots $6, and the bar snacks run $5–7 — the chicken tostaditas and mini empanadas at $5 are the order. The local move: it is a four-minute walk from the Vernon Blvd–Jackson Ave 7 train, which makes it a genuinely realistic post-work stop from Midtown. The honest caveat: the esplanade seats go first on a warm Friday and there is no holding them — if the weather is good, get there before six.

Hair of the Dog On now

Orchard Street sports bar, open till 4am · 168 Orchard St, Lower East Side $$$
All drinks half off, $3 sliderseven hours
FridayMon–Fri 12–7pm

Half off everything for seven hours is the simplest good deal on the Lower East Side, and the $3 slider makes it a plan rather than a drink. Noon to seven, Monday through Friday, no carve-outs published — not “select drafts,” not “well only.” All drinks. The why: most Orchard Street bars treat Friday as the day to stop discounting; this one runs the same seven hours it runs on a Tuesday and then stays open until 4am. The honest caveat: The Infatuation lists this place as “daily, 7pm–close,” which contradicts the bar’s own site. Trust the bar — go in the afternoon.

Rivercrest On now

big Ditmars corner bar with cocktails on tap · 33-15 Ditmars Blvd, Astoria, Queens $$$
$6 drafts, $12 tap cocktails, $5 Jägerseven hours
FridayMon–Fri 12–7pm

Seven hours on a Friday, and the deal is the same one they run all week — which on this page counts as generosity. Any sixteen-ounce draft is $6, every cocktail on tap is $12 (margarita, Rivercrest old fashioned, cold brew martini, white sangria), wine is $7 and Jäger shots are $5. Buckets of Dirty Water seltzer are $25 if there are four of you. The honest caveat, and it matters: Rivercrest also runs a late happy hour, 10pm to 2am — Monday to Thursday only. Turn up at ten on a Friday expecting it and you pay full price. The Friday move here is the afternoon, not the night.

The Stumble Inn On now

Second Avenue sports bar, open till 4am · 1454 Second Ave, Upper East Side $$$
Half off the entire barseven hours
FridayMon–Fri 12–7pm

Half off the whole bar from the moment the doors open until seven, five days a week. No “select” qualifier, no bar-only rule, no list of exclusions — the entire bar, for seven hours. On the Upper East Side that is unusual enough to be the reason you go. The honest caveat: every other day of the week here has a named evening special — Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday all get one. Friday gets nothing after 7pm. Once the half-price window shuts you are paying rack rate in a room that just filled up. And one correction under our own byline: this page used to advertise a $14 bucket of five beers here. It does not exist and never did — see the traps section below.

Congress Bar On now

dark Court Street cocktail room · 208 Court St, Cobble Hill, Brooklyn $$$
$2 off cocktails, draft beer & winesix hours Friday
FridayFri 1–7pm

Congress runs a three-hour happy hour Monday to Thursday and a six-hour one on Friday. It is the clearest example on this page of a bar going the other way — while everyone else clips Friday, Congress doubles it, opening the doors at 1pm and holding $2 off menu cocktails, draft beer and wine until seven. The why: Court Street empties out for the commute and fills again at eight, so the bar spends the gap giving you a reason to stay. The local move: get there before four, when it is still quiet enough to hear the person opposite you. The honest caveat: $2 off is a discount, not a price — the value here is the six-hour runway, not the size of the cut.

The post-work Friday

The classic three-to-seven, done properly, from FiDi to Inwood. Two of these are actually better on a Friday than the rest of the week.

Valerie On now

over 100 gins and freezer-door martinis · 45 W 45th St, Midtown $$$
$1 oysters, $14 cocktails, $11 wine, $7 drafts4–7pm
FridayMon–Fri 4–7pm

The best-looking room on this page that still sells a dollar oyster. Four to seven, Monday to Friday: $1 oysters, $14 cocktails from a list that includes a proper Sazerac and a Spanish G&T, $11 house wines, $7 select drafts and a $16 cheese and charcuterie board that turns a drink into dinner. Over a hundred gins behind the bar and martinis kept in the freezer door. The local move: come after five. Happy hour opens at four but lunch service ends at 3:30 and dinner doesn’t start until five, so the first hour is the awkward one. Correction: we published $13 cocktails here for months. Their own beverage list says $14. It is fixed above, and there is a stale PDF on Valerie’s own server still printing $11 — if you are checking my work, check the live page, not the PDF.

Legasea Bar & Grill On now

seafood room upstairs at the Moxy · 485 Seventh Ave, 2nd Fl, Times Square $$$
$2 oysters, $4 fries, $6 beer, $10 martinisbar only
FridayMon–Fri 3–6:30pm

A $10 martini and a $2 oyster within a block of Times Square is not supposed to be possible, and this is the page’s biggest correction. For months we published this deal under Magic Hour, the rooftop bar upstairs in the same hotel. It was never Magic Hour’s. It is Legasea’s, on the second floor — and Magic Hour doesn’t even open until 5pm, which makes a 3pm happy hour there physically impossible. See the traps section. What is real: $2 oysters, $4 fries, $6 beer, $8 wine and $10 martinis, Monday to Friday, 3 to 6:30pm. The honest caveat: bar only, and the bar is up an escalator past a hotel lobby, not off the street. At $2 an oyster it fills by five on a Friday.

Angel of Harlem On now

corner room at 122nd, open till 2am · 2272 Frederick Douglass Blvd, Harlem $$$
$10 rum punch & wells, $7 draftsfour hours
FridayFri 4–8pm

Four hours is the longest post-work Friday window uptown, and the rum punch is the order. Doors open at four and the happy hour opens with them: $10 well drinks, their rum punch, wine and sangria, $7 drafts of Good Angel Lager and Bad Angel Amber, until eight. The local move: Wednesday and Thursday this deal runs all night — Friday it is a fixed 4-to-8. If you want the all-nighter, come midweek. The honest caveat, and it is one we owe you: a claim has been circulating that Angel of Harlem does unlimited or bottomless drinks on a weeknight. It does not. The bottomless offer is a weekend brunch add-on at $39 per person on top of an entrée, capped at 90 minutes. Nothing here is unlimited and nothing here is free.

Harlem Tavern On now

big indoor-outdoor room at 116th · 2153 Frederick Douglass Blvd, Harlem $$$
$6 drafts, $7 mixed drinks, $8 wine4–7pm
FridayMon–Fri 4–7pm

The biggest outdoor drinking room in Harlem, and the Friday prices are the same as the Monday prices. $6 select drafts, $7 house mixed drinks, $8 select red and white, $9 sangria and a $10 cocktail of the day, four to seven, every weekday. The local move: the patio is the entire point and it is gone by five on a warm Friday — if you want it, be early or be inside. The honest caveat: their own website footer prints the ZIP as 10002, which is the Lower East Side. It is a typo on their end; the bar is at Frederick Douglass and 116th, ZIP 10026. If a map app sends you downtown, that is why.

Sweet Afton On now

Astoria standby, kitchen till 1am · 30-09 34th St, Astoria, Queens $$$
$10 beer & shot, $10 house cocktailsFriday starts an hour early
FridayFri 3–7pm

One of exactly two bars I found in the whole city where the Friday happy hour is longer than the rest of the week’s. Monday to Thursday it is 4 to 7. On Friday it starts at 3pm and runs the same four hours to seven: $10 select house cocktails, $10 beer and a shot. The why: that extra hour is the difference between catching the deal and watching it end while you are still on the N. The local move: the beer-and-shot is the actual value here — $10 for a select cocktail in Astoria is fair, not cheap, and “select” is doing real work on that list. Kitchen runs to 1am and the bar to 4am, so the night has somewhere to go.

Cobblestones Pub & Biergarten On now

Queens Boulevard pub, open 9am to 4am · 117-18 Queens Blvd, Forest Hills, Queens $$$
Everything $7 — drafts, wine, mixed drinksfour hours
FridayMon–Fri 3–7pm

One price, four hours, no arithmetic: everything is $7. Every draught beer, every wine by the glass — chardonnay, moscato, pinot grigio, rosé, cabernet, malbec, merlot, pinot noir — and every mixed drink, all $7, three to seven, Monday to Friday. Wings are half price with a drink. The why: a flat price is worth more than a bigger discount you have to decode at the bar, and this is the cleanest one in the city. The honest caveat: two carve-outs, both published — Delirium is excluded from the draught deal, and a “mixed drink” here means one bar liquor and one mixer, not anything off the cocktail list. The half-price wings are dine-in only.

Weather Up On now

white-tile bar, low light, no sign · 159 Duane St, Tribeca $$$
$6 beer, $12 wine, $16 cocktails5–7pm
FridayMon–Sat 5–7pm

The prettiest bar on this page and the one where you should order the beer. Five to seven, Monday to Saturday: $6 beer (Monopolio lager, Five Boroughs Tiny Juicy IPA), $12 wine, $16 cocktails — a Moscow mule, a revolver, a margarita, a daiquiri. Sixteen dollars is not a happy hour price, and I am not going to pretend otherwise; the $6 beer in that room is the actual deal. The honest caveat, and it is ours: this page advertised $1 oysters here for months. Weather Up has no oysters, at any price. The claim came from us, it was live on six of our own URLs, and it is gone. The deal above is read off the happy hour card on their own site. Closed Sundays.

Half off, and honest prices

Where the discount is deep rather than decorative. Mostly dives and pubs, mostly all afternoon, and one free drink nobody writes about. More in our best dive bars in NYC guide.

Off the Wagon On now

MacDougal Street basement, open till 4am · 109 MacDougal St, Greenwich Village $$$
$2 off the entire bar; free drink with a mealseven hours
FridayMon–Fri 12–7pm

The free drink is the part nobody prints. Noon to seven, $2 off the entire bar — and until 5pm, a free draft beer or glass of wine with any meal. That is a lunch and a drink in Greenwich Village for the price of the lunch. The $10 beer-and-shot is real but it is the everyday base price, not a happy hour item; it is available until they shut at 4am. The honest caveat, and it is the whole reason this page exists: Off the Wagon runs a named night special every single day of the week — $5 wells Monday, $7 Tito’s Tuesday, $7 spritzes Wednesday, $8 mules Thursday, beat-the-clock Saturday, $5 drafts Sunday. Friday is the one day with nothing. They are not hiding it; Friday just doesn’t need the help.

Hardware Bar On now

Tenth Avenue gay bar with a back garden · 697 Tenth Ave, Hell’s Kitchen $$$
Half-price drinksseven days, six hours
FridayDaily 2–8pm

Six hours a day, seven days a week, half price — the longest genuinely-every-day window I verified anywhere in the city, and Friday is not carved out of it. Two in the afternoon to eight at night, no exceptions listed, including Saturday and Sunday. The back garden is the reason to pick this over the other Tenth Avenue options. The honest caveat, and I want to be straight about it: “half-price drinks” is the entire pricing language Hardware publishes. There is no price list anywhere on their site, so I can’t tell you what a beer costs, and they don’t publish a closing time either. Half of an unpublished number is still an unpublished number — the six-hour window is the verified fact here.

The Dram Shop On now

South Slope pub with a pool table · 339 Ninth St, Park Slope, Brooklyn $$$
Half off drafts, wells & wine; $5 mimosas6½ hours
FridayMon–Fri 11:30am–6pm

Six and a half hours of half-price drinks, and a $5 mimosa that only exists during happy hour. Half off drafts, wells and wines from 11:30 in the morning, plus $10 frozen cocktails and a $7.75 munchie menu. The $5 house champagne and $5 mimosa are the line worth knowing — they are marked happy-hour-only, which makes an early Friday here genuinely cheap. The local move: there is a pool table and it is free early. The honest caveat: the 6pm end time comes off a drink menu on their own server dated 2025, and prices have already drifted since it was published (the munchie menu went $7.25 to $7.75). The deal is on their live specials page; the exact end time is worth confirming if you are cutting it fine.

169 Bar On now

tin ceilings, leopard carpet, open till 4am · 169 East Broadway, Lower East Side $$$
$2 off liquor, $1 off beer, $2 well shot with a beerfive hours
FridayDaily 2–7pm

Five hours every single day, and the cheapest beer in the room lands at $4. The structure, exactly as they print it: $2 off any liquor drink, $1 off any beer, and a $2 well shot with any beer. Their beer list is priced in tiers from $5, so the discount puts Famosa, Genesee, Miller and PBR at $4. The local move: they stop taking reservations at 4:30 on Fridays, so the happy hour is also the last window where you can just walk in and sit down. Three corrections, all ours: this page said $3 oysters — 169 Bar has no raw bar and serves no oysters at any price; the food menu is empanadas, dumplings and cajun popcorn. It said 2–7:30pm; the window is 2–7. And well shots are explicitly excluded from the $2 off, so the only cheap shot is the beer combo.

Whiskey Tavern On now

courthouse-district bar with a back patio · 79 Baxter St, Chinatown $$$
$5 High Life, $8 wells, $20 Miller Lite pitcherfour hours
FridayMon–Fri 3–7pm

The best-documented price list of anything on this page, and a back patio almost nobody knows about. Three to seven, Monday to Friday: $8 wells, $8 wine, $5 Miller High Life bottles, a $10 shot and beer, and a $20 Miller Lite pitcher that is the correct order if there are three of you. Food is priced into the deal too — $12 wings, $10 nachos, $7 fries or tots. The local move: it sits behind the courthouses, so it empties out exactly when the rest of downtown fills up. Five o’clock on a Friday here is calmer than four o’clock anywhere on Orchard Street. The honest caveat: the deal lives only on their menu page — the homepage says nothing about it.

Kashkaval Garden On now

Mediterranean wine bar, fondue and mezze · 852 Ninth Ave, Hell’s Kitchen $$$
$8 wine, beer & mixed drinksall day at the bar
FridaySun–Fri 3–6pm

Eight dollars for wine, beer or a mixed drink, all day, every day — including Friday, including Saturday — as long as you sit at the bar or the chef’s table. That is the best standing price in Hell’s Kitchen and it is printed on their own homepage, where almost nobody reads it, because everyone copies the Sunday-to-Friday 3–6pm table window instead. Mocktails are $9. The why: the food here is actually good — mezze, fondue, a serious cheese list — so an $8 glass isn’t the compensation for a bad room, it is just the price. The honest caveat: the all-day price is seat-dependent, not time-dependent. Take a regular table at 7pm on a Friday and you pay full freight. The badge above tracks the published table window; the bar deal is better than the badge.

Oysters and the quieter Friday

Six places doing a dollar-ish oyster on a Friday night, and the honest accounting of which prices are real. See also our $1 oyster happy hours guide.

Grey Lady On now

Nantucket fish shack on Delancey, open till 4am · 77 Delancey St, Lower East Side $$$
$1 oysters, $6 drafts, $9 winesix hours Friday
FridayThu–Fri 1–7pm

Six hours of dollar oysters is the single best Friday fact on this page, and we had it wrong on four of five fields. Grey Lady runs 4–7pm Sunday to Wednesday — and 1pm to 7pm on Thursday and Friday. Their door opens at 1pm on a Friday specifically so the happy hour can start with it. $1 oysters, $6 drafts, $9 wine, for six straight hours. The local move: two o’clock on a Friday, at the bar, before the Delancey crowd arrives. The honest caveat: their two-for-one espresso martinis and Aperol spritzes are branded “Two-for-One Thursdays” and run Thursday only — a lot of guides, including an earlier version of our own research, imply it covers Friday. It does not. We previously published Tue–Fri 4–7pm, $5 beers and $8 wines. All three were wrong.

Roxy Bar On now

hotel lounge with live jazz and a supper-club feel · 2 Avenue of the Americas, Tribeca $$$
$2 oysters, $5 drafts, $10 wines & martininightly
FridayDaily 4–6pm

A two-dollar oyster in a room with live jazz and a doorman is a genuine anomaly. The Nitely Sunset Specials run 4 to 6pm every day, Friday included: $2 East Coast oysters, $5 select draft, $10 wines by the glass and a $10 Mini Roxy Martini, vodka or gin. On Mondays the whole thing runs all night. The why: it is the cheapest way into one of the better-looking hotel bars downtown, and two hours is enough. The honest caveat: The Roxy Hotel runs several rooms and they get conflated constantly. The hotel’s own blog pages still advertise these oysters at $1 and $1.50 — both stale. And the $1 oysters you may have seen belong to The Oyster Bar at The Roxy, a different room in the same building.

Bocca di Bacco Theater District On now

Ninth Avenue Italian with a long bar · 635 Ninth Ave, Hell’s Kitchen $$$
$1.50 oysters, $6 beer, $9 wine, $12 cocktails4pm to close
FridaySun–Fri 4pm–close

Eight hours of $1.50 oysters on a Friday, and Saturday is the day they don’t do it. Sunday through Friday, four in the afternoon until close — which on a Friday means midnight. $1.50 raw oysters, $2.50 Rockefeller, $6 beer, $9 wine by the glass, $12 cocktails and $12 sangria. The why: almost every oyster deal in this city is a two-hour window; this is a whole evening. The honest caveat: bar only, six-oyster minimum, and Bocca’s own site contradicts itself — their events page is headlined “Happy Hour and $1 Oysters” while the actual Theater District happy hour menu prices them at $1.50. The menu wins. Don’t walk in expecting a dollar.

The Dead Rabbit

the taproom downstairs, sawdust and Guinness · 30 Water St, Financial District $$$
$2 oysters by the half dozen, $8 GuinnessShuck and Stout
FridayMon–Fri window not published

They refuse to call it a happy hour, which is very Dead Rabbit, and they also refuse to publish when it runs. “Shuck and Stout” is Monday to Friday in the taproom: $2 oysters by the half dozen, $8 Guinness pints and cocktail specials. That is a real price at what is routinely called one of the best bars in the world. The honest caveat, and it is why this card has no live badge: the time window appears nowhere on their site. Other guides print 3–6pm; I could not source that first-party, so I am not printing it. Several also print a $7 draft — their own page says $8. One more trap: there are two Dead Rabbit domains and the old one advertises a completely different offer. thedeadrabbit.com is the live one.

Little Rebel On now

Second Avenue taqueria bar, open till 4am · 219 Second Ave, East Village $$$
$1 Blue Point oysters, $9 cocktails, $6 beerdoors at 2pm
FridayFri 2–7pm

Dollar oysters and nine-dollar margaritas, and the best illustration on this page of Friday getting quietly worse. Little Rebel runs three deals. The main happy hour — $1 Blue Point oysters, $9 Rebel margarita, James Dean, Escobar and Cruel Summer, $6 seltzers, ciders and Rebel Lager — is advertised Monday to Friday from 11am. But the door doesn’t open until 2pm on a Friday, so the real Friday window is 2 to 7, and that is what the badge above encodes. The other two deals — the 10pm–2am late happy hour and the half-price rosé bottles — are Monday to Thursday only. Two of its three deals switch off on Friday. Go in the afternoon or don’t bother.

LELABAR On now

tiny Hudson Street wine bar, candlelit · 422 Hudson St, West Village $$$
$3 oysters, $14 wine, $7 beer, $5 snacks4–6pm Friday
FridayTue–Fri 4–6pm

Three-dollar oysters and five-dollar cheese in a room that seats about twenty. The happy hour is written on their menu as “every day until 6” — which means the length depends entirely on when the door opens. On Friday the door is 4pm, so you get a clean two hours: $3 oysters, $14 wine by the glass or $52 the bottle, $7 beer, and cheese, charcuterie, almonds and olives at $5 a plate. The local move: get one of the four seats at the bar and order two cheeses and an oyster each; it is a better dinner than most $60 ones nearby. Correction: we published $8–$10 wine here. It is $14, and the beer is $7, not $6. Our own profile page for this bar is still wrong and is being fixed.

Still running late on a Friday

This is the shortest section on the page and that is the point. Six bars still discounting after 9pm on a Friday, in a city of thousands — and one of them doesn’t start until midnight.

Down the Hatch On now

basement dive under West 4th, open till 4am · 179 W 4th St, West Village $$$
Half off all drinks, then $10 beer & shot till 4amFriday only
FridayMon–Fri 2–7pm

The only bar I could verify anywhere downtown with a Friday-specific deal that survives past 8:30pm — and it runs until four in the morning. Two to seven it is half off all drinks, in their words, not ours. Then at seven the Friday deal starts: $10 for a beer and a shot — Bud Light or Coors draft or a Nutrl seltzer, with any well, green tea or Skrewball — and it holds until 4am. The local move: $3 hot dogs from midnight, every night. The honest caveat: the $7 Tito’s and $8 Red Bull bombs you may have seen attached to this bar are Thursday only. And the $10 beer-and-shot is Friday only here — it is not, as we and others have printed, an everyday offer.

Alfie’s On now

craft beer bar with a late second shift · 800 Ninth Ave, Hell’s Kitchen $$$
$10 cocktails, $8 wine & drafts, $9 wellstwo shifts, 13 hours
FridayMon–Fri 11am–7pm

Thirteen hours of happy hour on a Friday, split across two shifts, which is more than any other bar on this page. Eleven in the morning to seven at night, then again from 11pm until they close at 4am — seven days a week, weekends included at slightly different daytime hours. $10 old fashioned, classic margarita or gin and tonic, $8 pinot grigio or pinot noir, $8 amber ale and pilsner, $9 wells. The why: the late shift is the rare thing here. Almost nobody in this city discounts at midnight on a Friday. The honest caveat: $8 for a draft is not a bargain and I won’t pretend it is — you are buying the hours and the $10 cocktails, not the beer.

Miss Nellie’s On now

Restaurant Row bar, kitchen till 1am · 325 W 44th St, Hell’s Kitchen $$$
$10 negronis, spicy margs & hugo spritzestwo windows
FridayMon–Fri 2–6pm

Ten-dollar negronis at midnight on a Friday, two blocks off Times Square. Two windows: 2 to 6 on weekday afternoons, then 11pm to close, seven nights a week. The list is $10 negronis, spicy margaritas, hugo spritzes and Solid Gold lager. The local move: order the negroni — the house wine is $12, which is more than the cocktails, and that is rarely the right way round. The honest caveat: the kitchen shuts at 1am, so if the late window is your plan, food is a narrow target. Doors are 11am to 3am.

Dutch Fred’s On now

proper cocktail bar that discounts after midnight · 307 W 47th St, Hell’s Kitchen $$$
Midnight Run: $10 margaritas & whisky sours, $6 drafts12am–close
FridayDaily 12am–close

A cocktail bar that starts its happy hour at midnight, seven nights a week. The Midnight Run is $10 margaritas, whisky sours and wines by the glass with $6 select drafts, from 12am until they close at 3am. There is nothing else like it in the neighbourhood, and after a Friday show lets out it is the only serious cocktail in the theater district at a sane price. Earlier on, Freddie’s Happy Meal runs 4pm to 11pm: $27 for a kale caesar or beef sliders with small fries and a house gin or vodka martini. The honest caveat: a “Friday” Midnight Run is technically Saturday morning — if you want it after Friday night out, you are drinking at 12:30am on Saturday. It runs either way. “Select” drafts are not specified.

El Pingüino On now

Spanish seafood counter, tinned fish and sherry · 25 Greenpoint Ave, Greenpoint, Brooklyn $$$
Half off oysters, $12 sherry & martinistwo windows
FridayDaily 4–7pm

The only Brooklyn bar I could verify with a genuine late Friday window, and the late menu is better than the early one. Seven days a week, 4 to 7: half off oysters, $12 glasses of sherry and $12 martinis. Then from 10pm to midnight: $10 sardines, $12 Midori sour and a $10 Faccia Brutto Ferrari. The why: tinned sardines and a Midori sour at eleven at night in Greenpoint is a specific and correct idea, and it costs less than a single cocktail in Manhattan. The honest caveat: they close at midnight, so the late window is literally the last two hours of the night — be there by eleven or it is not worth the trip.

The Penrose On now

reclaimed-wood UES corner, open till 4am · 1590 Second Ave, Upper East Side $$$
$5 Spaten, then $10 select drinks after 10pmevery single night
FridayMon–Fri 3–6pm

The after-ten deal is the reason this is on the page, and it runs, in their words, “Every. Single. Night.” From 10pm: $10 espresso martini, spicy margarita, or a Spaten with a well shot. On the Upper East Side, on a Friday, that is close to unique. Earlier, 3 to 6 weekdays, it is $5 for a mug of Spaten, $12 Penrose cocktails and $12 pinot noir or grigio. The local move: the $5 Spaten is the actual value — $12 for a cocktail at happy hour is barely a discount, and you should skip it in favour of the beer or the 10pm list. The honest caveat: their own site can’t agree with itself — the happy hour page says 3–6pm and the location page says 3–7pm. I have published the priced deal page. Open till 4am.

Friday traps — including four of our own

Deals that aren’t deals, guides still recommending bars that closed years ago, and the mistakes we published under our own byline. This section is the reason to trust the rest of the page.

Our mistake

We put Magic Hour’s name on another bar’s happy hour

For months this page sold you “$6 beer, $8 wine, $10 spritzes and $4 fries, Mon–Fri 5–6:30pm, bar only” at Magic Hour Rooftop. That deal is not Magic Hour’s. It belongs to Legasea, the seafood room on the second floor of the same hotel — and the giveaway is that Magic Hour does not open until 5pm, which makes the real 3pm start physically impossible up there. The “$10 spritzes” appear on no menu anywhere; Legasea sells $10 martinis. The bar-only rule was Legasea’s too. The source we had been reading is a hotel dining page that dates itself “Open through Fall 2024.” Legasea is now on this page with the correct deal. Magic Hour is off it.

Our mistake

The Stumble Inn’s $14 beer bucket has never existed

We advertised “$14 buckets of 5 beers” at The Stumble Inn, and for a while our own Google description advertised it too. The word “bucket” appears nowhere on their site. What makes this one damning rather than merely wrong is that no aggregator carries it either — a stale listing error leaves a trail across a dozen copycat sites, and this one traces back only to us. We invented it. The real deal is half off the entire bar, noon to 7pm.

Our mistake

Weather Up has no oysters, at any price

“$1 oysters” at Weather Up was live on six of our own URLs. There is no raw bar. The actual happy hour, read off the card on their own site, is $16 cocktails, $6 beer and $12 wine, Monday to Saturday, 5–7pm. It is corrected across the site now, but Google may still be showing you our old headline for a while, and that is our fault, not yours.

Our mistake

169 Bar’s $3 oysters, and a link we sent to a domain broker

Two problems at one bar. We published $3 oysters at 169 Bar; they have no raw bar — the entire food menu is empanadas, dumplings and cajun popcorn. And the URL we were linking, 169bar.com, now redirects to a domain-resale marketplace. Anyone clicking through from our page landed on a for-sale listing. The live site is 169barnyc.com. Both are fixed above.

Cut

Mister Paradise’s oysters were Valerie’s oysters

We had been listing “$9 cocktails, $5 beers, $2 oysters” at Mister Paradise in the East Village. Their own site publishes no menu, no hours and no happy hour — it is photographs and an address. Every price we carried traced to a May 2021 listicle, and in that article the oysters belong to Valerie, a different bar further down the same page. The claim got welded onto the wrong venue and we copied it. Cut, not corrected — there is nothing to correct it to.

The tell

Time Out has a Sunday happy hour guide and no Friday one

This takes five seconds to check. Time Out New York publishes a live guide to the best Sunday happy hours in NYC, and a Monday one. Their Friday URL is a 404. The city’s biggest listings brand has a Sunday happy hour guide and no Friday one — because assembling a real Friday list is hard in exactly the way this page has been describing.

The pattern

All day Monday. Nothing Friday.

Osamil in NoMad publishes its happy hour as “Mon & Sun: All Day / Tue–Thur: 5pm–7pm.” Friday and Saturday get nothing at all. Panda Harlem puts both halves in one sentence: happy hour “at the bar Tuesday through Thursday all night, and Friday from 5 PM to 7 PM.” Grand Army in Boerum Hill runs 5–7pm Monday to Thursday and shifts Friday to 4–6pm, so the hour you would actually use is the hour they remove. Milady’s (Sun–Thu), Walter’s (Mon–Thu), La Linea and Niagara all stop before Friday. And Forest Hills Station House lists a happy hour on four days a week; the Friday entry says only “Beer & Burger Special.”

Still ranking, still wrong

A June 2026 guide admits the problem, then sends you to a bar that shut in 2014

Value Add VC’s “NYC Happy Hour Guide 2026,” published 3 June 2026 and still live, contains the line “Fridays often end at 6pm or get eliminated entirely.” It is right. It then recommends Rodeo Bar, which closed in July 2014, Therapy, which closed in July 2020, and Heartland Brewery, which has no locations left. Time Out’s August 2018 happy hour guide is also still live, and six of its nine bars are gone.

Gone

Maison Premiere’s $1 oysters are not a thing anymore

Half the internet still promises dollar oysters at Maison Premiere in Williamsburg. Their own site says, in capitals, that the oyster happy hour is not currently offered. If a Friday guide is still sending you there for $1 oysters, it has not been checked since before they stopped.

Friday happy hour in NYC: FAQ

What time does Friday happy hour start in NYC?

Earlier than you think, if you pick right. Ten bars on this page are already discounting by noon on a Friday — John Doe, Bronx Alehouse, Blend on the Water, Alfie’s and Continental all start at 11am, The Dram Shop at 11:30, and Hair of the Dog, Off the Wagon, Rivercrest and The Stumble Inn all start at noon. The most common Friday start is 4pm and the most common finish is 7pm.

Which NYC bar has the longest Friday happy hour?

John Doe Craft Bar & Kitchen in NoMad runs the longest single window at nine hours, 11am to 8pm, and Friday is the day its featured cocktails drop to $11. Alfie’s in Hell’s Kitchen runs longer in total — roughly thirteen hours — but splits it across two shifts, 11am to 7pm and 11pm to 4am. Bronx Alehouse and Blend on the Water both run eight straight hours, 11am to 7pm.

Where can I get $1 oysters on a Friday in NYC?

Grey Lady on Delancey is the best of them: $1 oysters from 1pm to 7pm on Thursdays and Fridays, six hours, alongside $6 drafts and $9 wine. Valerie in Midtown does $1 oysters 4–7pm, and Little Rebel in the East Village does $1 Blue Points until 7pm. Bocca di Bacco runs $1.50 oysters from 4pm to close, and Legasea and Roxy Bar both do $2.

Is there a late-night happy hour on Friday in NYC?

Barely, and that is the honest answer. Six bars on this page are still discounting after 9pm on a Friday. Down the Hatch in the West Village runs a $10 beer-and-shot from 7pm to 4am, Alfie’s and Miss Nellie’s both restart at 11pm, The Penrose does $10 select drinks after 10pm every night, El Pingüino runs 10pm to midnight, and Dutch Fred’s Midnight Run starts at 12am.

Why do so many NYC happy hours skip Friday?

Because Friday is the one night bars do not need to discount to fill the room. Off the Wagon runs a named special every night of the week except Friday. Little Rebel switches off two of its three deals on a Friday. Rivercrest’s late window is Monday to Thursday only. Milady’s, Walter’s, La Linea and Niagara all publish happy hours that stop before Friday. It is not an oversight — it is the business model.

Which NYC bars have a better happy hour on Friday than the rest of the week?

Three, and they are worth knowing. Congress Bar in Cobble Hill runs three hours Monday to Thursday and six on Friday, 1pm to 7pm. Sweet Afton in Astoria opens its window an hour earlier on Friday, at 3pm instead of 4pm. And John Doe’s TGIF menu actually cuts prices — featured cocktails go from $12 to $11 and house wine from $7 to $6.
