Buckets$25

Wednesday11am–11pm

Wednesday at Continental is a group deal, and it runs the whole service day rather than a two-hour window. A $25 bucket of Adios tequila seltzers or 5BORO IPA. A $30 Michelob Ultra pitcher with a 12-inch cheese or pepperoni pizza. Or $35 for a pitcher — or a bucket of 12oz Heinekens — with eight wings. The Verdict: four people eat and drink here for roughly what two cocktails cost a few blocks north, and you get the game. The Local Move: reserve rather than walk in; their booking system lets you choose the actual table, which is the difference between watching the game and watching a pillar.

Wednesday is the most underrated night to drink in this city, and the reason is simple economics: bars need a Wednesday crowd more than you need a Wednesday out, so they give away more to get you. That is why half-price wine bottles — the deal you will almost never see on a Friday — cluster here. Below are 21 verified spots, grouped by what kind of night you want: the Wednesday-only deals first, then the half-price bars and wing nights, the oyster hours, and the dives and wine bars that run the same deal every day of the week. At the end, the Wednesday deals that turn out not to be real — including two we were publishing until this week.

Grey Lady On now

Nantucket beach shack on Delancey · 77 Delancey St, Lower East Side $$$
Half off every bottle of wineWed 4pm–close
$1 oysters, $6 drafts, $9 wineSun–Wed 4–7pm
Happy hourSun–Wed 4–7pm

The best Wednesday deal in Manhattan, and it isn’t close. Every bottle on the list is half off from 4pm until they close at midnight — not a short window, not a house-pour carve-out, the whole list. Stack it with the 4–7pm happy hour and you’re drinking $1 oysters and $6 drafts while you wait for the bottle. The Local Move: get there before 7 so the oysters overlap, then let the bottle carry the rest of the night. The room is all whitewashed wood and beach-shack kitsch, which sounds insufferable on Delancey and somehow isn’t. The Honest Caveat: Wednesday is the only day they open at 1pm rather than 4pm, so an early table is genuinely available.

Siren On now

Tight little raw bar with a real wine list · 687 5th Ave, South Slope, Brooklyn $$$
Wine Wednesdays — 50% off all bottlesWed 5–10pm
$1.50 oysters, $12 cocktails, $5 beersTue–Thu 5–7pm
Happy hourWed 5–10pm

Half-price bottles until 10pm, and for the first two hours the oysters are $1.50. That combination on a Wednesday is close to unfair. The Verdict: if you like wine more than you like a scene, this is the best value on this page. It’s a small room on Fifth Avenue in the South Slope, more counter than dining room, and it fills up with people who clearly live within four blocks. The Honest Caveat: the bottle deal runs 5–10pm but the oyster hour stops at 7, so the cheap-oysters-and-cheap-bottle overlap is a two-hour window. Closed Mondays. Book it — walking in at 7:30 on a Wednesday is optimistic.

Black Forest Brooklyn On now

German beer hall that takes its wine list seriously · 733 Fulton St, Fort Greene, Brooklyn $$$
Wine Down Wednesday — half off all wine bottlesAll day Wed
$6 half-liter HB Original or HB DunkelWeekdays till 6pm
Happy hourWed 5–10pm

A German beer hall running its best deal on wine is exactly the kind of thing that makes Wednesday worth leaving the house for. Every bottle is half price all day. The Local Move: the $6 half-liter of Hofbräu Original runs weekdays until 6pm, so arrive at 5, drink a liter of it for twelve bucks, then order a half-price bottle with the schnitzel. The Why: the wine list is better than a beer hall needs it to be, which is the only reason half-off is interesting. The Honest Caveat: doors are 5pm, so "all day" means five to close. Their Smith Street location runs the same deal if Boerum Hill is closer.

LoFi Bar On now

Low-lit neighborhood bar, good records · 341 2nd St, Gowanus, Brooklyn $$$
Martini Wednesdays — $12 classic and house martinisWed, all night
$1 off every drinkMon–Fri till 8pm
Happy hourWed all night

$12 for a properly made martini, all night, with no 7pm cliff to run for. In a city where the same drink runs $22 four subway stops away, that’s the whole pitch. The Verdict: worth it, and worth staying — the deal doesn’t expire at 8 like the weekday $1-off does, so Wednesday is the one night you can settle in. It’s a dim, record-forward room on 2nd Street where nobody is performing. The Local Move: sit at the bar and ask what’s on the turntable; it’s that kind of place. The Honest Caveat: $12 covers classic and house martinis, not the whole cocktail list.

Brooklyn Winery On now

Working urban winery you can drink inside · 61 Guernsey St, Greenpoint, Brooklyn $$$
‘Tini Weenie Wednesdays — hot dog of the week + house martini$20, Wed
$10 glasses, $5 off tasting flightsWed–Fri 4–6pm
Happy hourWed–Fri 4–6pm

A martini and a hot dog for $20 inside an actual working winery is a joke that lands. The dog changes weekly, the martini is theirs, and Wednesday is the first day of their happy-hour week — $10 glasses and $5 off flights from 4 to 6. The Why: you’re drinking wine fermented in the building, which is a genuinely different night out than another Greenpoint bar with a natural-wine list. The Honest Caveat: they also run "Wine Club Wednesdays" with half-price bottles, but that’s members plus one guest, first Wednesday of the month only — don’t turn up on the third Wednesday expecting it. Closed Monday and Tuesday. They moved from Williamsburg; Guernsey Street is the current address.

KCBC On now

Bushwick brewery taproom, loud and friendly · 381 Troutman St, Bushwick, Brooklyn $$$
Wednesday Flight Night — $10 flightsWed
$6 select poursMon–Thu 4–7pm
Happy hourMon–Thu 4–7pm

Kings County Brewers Collective makes the beer on site, and Wednesday is the night they let you taste across it for $10 a flight. The Verdict: the best-value way to drink at a NYC brewery midweek, because a flight at most taprooms costs what four beers cost here. Stack the 4–7pm $6 select pours in front of it and you’ve got a cheap, genuinely interesting Wednesday on Troutman. The Local Move: ask what’s newest on tap rather than ordering the flagship — they turn over small batches constantly and the flight is the point. Big garage-door room, no attitude, closes at 11.

Blend on the Water On now

Waterfront patio with the whole Midtown skyline · 45-40 Center Blvd, Long Island City, Queens $$$
$20 sangria pitchersWed, all night
$9 mojitos and margaritas, $6 drafts, $5–7 bitesMon–Fri 11am–7pm
Happy hourMon–Fri 11am–7pm

A $20 pitcher of sangria on a patio facing the Manhattan skyline is a better Wednesday than most people’s Saturday. The Verdict: worth the trip on the 7 to Vernon-Jackson purely for the view-to-price ratio — you are looking at the same skyline the rooftop bars charge $22 a cocktail for. The eight-hour weekday happy hour, 11am to 7pm, is one of the longest in the city. The Local Move: go at 6.30, get the pitcher, and take the table closest to the water before the sun drops behind Midtown. The Honest Caveat: it’s a restaurant patio, not a bar — the vibe is dinner with a view, not a night out.

The Rabbit Hole On now

Astoria corner bar that never gets expensive · 38-04 Broadway, Astoria, Queens $$$
50% off all bites + $9 margaritasWed
$4 shots, $5 house beers, $6 house winesMon–Fri 5–8pm
Happy hourMon–Fri 5–8pm

Half off the entire food menu on a Wednesday, plus $9 margaritas, plus a three-hour happy hour where shots are $4 and house beer is $5. The Verdict: the cheapest full night out on this page. Broadway in Astoria is thick with bars doing exactly this, and this one does it hardest. The Local Move: the weekday happy hour throws in a free hot dog with any beer or wine, which is the sort of detail that tells you what kind of bar this is. Open till 2am, so the 8pm end of happy hour isn’t the end of the night. Worth it if you want to eat and drink properly for under $40.

UWS institution, pool table, zero pretense · 430 Amsterdam Ave, Upper West Side $$$
Half price whole bar (some exclusions)Mon–Fri 3–8pm
$5 drafts, $5 wells and shots, half-price nachosWed 8pm–close
Happy hourMon–Fri 3–8pm

Wednesday here is a deal from the moment the doors open to the moment they close. Half price across the bar from 3 to 8, then $5 drafts, $5 wells and shots, and half-price nachos until 2am. The Verdict: nothing else on the Upper West Side runs eleven straight hours of discount on a Wednesday. The Honest Caveat: the half-price board carries an asterisk reading "some exclusions" and the bar doesn’t publish what they are, so ask before you order the good stuff. The Local Move: the $5 Heineken draft runs all day every day regardless, so there’s a floor price even if your pour is excluded.

The Stumble Inn On now

17 TVs, sticky floors, everybody’s welcome · 1454 2nd Ave, Upper East Side $$$
Half off the entire barMon–Fri 12–7pm
$4 Bud cans, $5 drafts, $5 well shotsWed 7pm–close
Happy hourMon–Fri 12–7pm

Seven hours of a half-price bar, then a second deal takes over at 7 and runs to 2am. Wednesday on Second Avenue does not get better than this. The Verdict: the half-price window is the real prize — it’s the whole bar, not a house-pour list, and it starts at noon. After 7 it’s $4 Bud, Bud Light and Bud Light Seltzer cans, $5 drafts, $5 well shots. The Why: seventeen TVs and a crowd that treats the place like a living room. The Honest Caveat: the half-price hours are weekdays only, so don’t carry this expectation into the weekend.

John Doe On now

NoMad craft bar doing dollar oysters at lunch · 253 5th Ave, NoMad $$$
Whiskey & Wing Wednesday — $1.50 wings (min 6)Wed
$1 oysters, $5 pints, $7 wells, $12 featured cocktailsDaily 11am–8pm
Happy hourDaily 11am–8pm

A nine-hour happy hour with dollar oysters in it, and on Wednesday the wings drop to $1.50. The Verdict: the best value-per-hour on this page — the window opens at 11am and doesn’t shut until 8pm, which means you can have a $1-oyster lunch on Fifth Avenue. Pints of their own lager are $5, wells $7, featured cocktails $12. The Honest Caveat: the wings carry a six-piece minimum, and the oysters are priced inside the 11–8 window only — the "all day" version some lists still quote comes from an out-of-date page on their own site. Open till 4am if the night gets away from you.

Someday Bar On now

Atlantic Ave bar that programs its whole week · 364 Atlantic Ave, Boerum Hill, Brooklyn $$$
Wurst Wednesdays — $2 dogs, $6 specialty, $15 dog + draft + friesWed

Happy hourMon–Fri 4–7pm

Two-dollar hot dogs, six-dollar fancy ones, and $15 for a specialty dog with a draft lager and fries — then a drag show at nine. The Verdict: the most fun you can have on a Wednesday for under $30, and the only entry here where the entertainment is the reason to come. The show is called Flamboyance and it runs every Wednesday at 9pm. The Local Move: hit the 4–7pm happy hour first ($4 seltzers, $6 drafts, $7 wells), eat, then hold your seat for the show. The Honest Caveat: they don’t publish a start or end time for the hot dog pricing, so confirm at the bar if you’re arriving late.

Happy hourWed 3–11pm

Happy hour that runs the entire night instead of stopping at 7, $10 sushi rolls that only exist on Wednesdays, $7 Jack and Cokes, and a trivia night with drag performances between rounds. The Verdict: the best-programmed Wednesday in Queens — you get a deal and an actual evening, not just cheap drinks in a quiet room. Trivia is called FACT CHECK and runs 7 to 10. The Local Move: get there by 6.30 to eat before the quiz starts and the tables go. The Honest Caveat: we’ve only verified the Wednesday items and the all-night window first-hand; the wider happy-hour price list is published under a different night, so ask at the bar.

MacDougal basement bar, open till 4am · 109 MacDougal St, Greenwich Village $$$
$7 spritzes — Aperol, Hugo, white peach, white wineWed 7pm–4am
$2 off the entire barMon–Fri 12–7pm
Happy hourMon–Fri 12–7pm

A correction we owe you: this page used to run a "Half Price Hump Day" here. That deal isn’t on their board and hasn’t been — it traces back to a stale listing on an aggregator. What’s actually true is still good. Two dollars off the entire bar from noon to 7 on weekdays, and then Wednesday nights from 7pm to 4am, spritzes are $7: Aperol, Hugo, white peach Red Bull, white wine. The Verdict: a nine-hour late-night spritz deal on MacDougal is a real thing to know about, even if it isn’t the thing we told you. The Local Move: the $10 beer-and-shot runs all day, every day.

Oyster Wednesdays

Dollar-ish oysters, midweek, in four boroughs’ worth of rooms. The full list lives in our $1 oyster happy hour guide.

$10 vodka or gin martini, $10 bubblesSun–Thu, open to close
$2.50 oysters, $2.50 shrimp cocktailSun–Thu, open to close
Happy hourWed 5pm–close

One of the only genuinely all-day happy hours in Williamsburg, and Wednesday is squarely inside it. Ten dollars for a vodka or gin martini, ten for bubbles, $2.50 an oyster and $2.50 a shrimp, from the moment they open at 5 until they close at midnight. The Verdict: no window to race, no 7pm cliff — the rarest thing on this page. The Local Move: the $28 spring plate (two vodka shots, four oysters, four shrimp, pickles) is the efficient order for two people. The Honest Caveat: food has to be ordered alongside an alcoholic drink, and it’s 21+ after 5pm. Steps from the Bedford Ave L.

$2 East Coast oysters, $5 select draftsDaily 4–6pm

Happy hourDaily 4–6pm

Two-dollar oysters and a $10 mini martini in a Tribeca hotel lounge, and on Wednesday there’s live music from 5.30 with no cover. Michael Garin plays the early sets, Bill Dobrow takes 7.30 and 9. The Verdict: the most room you get for the money on this page — this is a proper velvet-and-brass lounge charging dive prices for two hours. The Local Move: if you can move the night to Monday, the same specials run all night instead of 4–6. The Honest Caveat: "select" is doing work on the drafts and the wines — it’s a short list, not the full one. Oysters are $2 now; the $1.50 you’ll see quoted elsewhere is out of date.

The Beast Next Door On now

LIC neighborhood spot with a serious raw bar · 42-51 27th St, Long Island City, Queens $$$
$1 oysters (max 12 per person)Sun–Fri 4–7pm
$5 Narragansett, $10 house wine, $2 off house cocktailsSun–Fri 4–7pm
Happy hourSun–Fri 4–7pm

Dollar oysters six days a week in Long Island City, which is the kind of thing Manhattan charges triple for. The Verdict: the best oyster value in Queens, and Wednesday is a good night to use it because nobody else is. Add a $5 Narragansett tallboy, a $10 well shot with one, or $10 house red or white. The Honest Caveat: two rules worth knowing before you sit down — you have to order a cocktail, beer or wine to get happy-hour pricing, and oysters are capped at twelve per person. The Why: a raw bar this good in a room this unfussy is the whole argument for drinking outside Manhattan.

$1 oysters, $7 select drafts, $11 house wineMon–Fri 4–7pm
$14 cocktails — Negroni, Sazerac, Gimlet, Spanish G&TMon–Fri 4–7pm
Happy hourMon–Fri 4–7pm

Dollar oysters between Fifth and Sixth on 45th Street, which is the last place you’d expect to find them. The Verdict: the honest pick for a Midtown Wednesday — no Wednesday-specific hook, just a properly made $14 Negroni or Sazerac and $1 oysters in a room that isn’t a tourist trap. Go here instead of anything with a "$5 shots" sign in the window three blocks west. The Local Move: the $16 cheese and charcuterie boat is the sleeper — it’s a meal for two on a happy-hour budget. The Honest Caveat: cocktails moved to $14; anywhere still quoting $12 or $13 for this list is a year behind.

$3 oysters, $7 beer, $5 snacksEvery day 4–6pm
$14 wine by the glass, $52 bottlesEvery day 4–6pm
Happy hourEvery day 4–6pm

Three-dollar oysters in the West Village, every single day, and almost nobody mentions them. The Verdict: the most under-quoted deal in the neighbourhood — the wine gets all the attention at $14 a glass and $52 a bottle, but $3 oysters and $7 beer are the actual value. The Local Move: read the chalkboard before you order; the daily wine and food specials live there and nowhere else, including their website. The Honest Caveat: it’s a genuinely small room and there is no day restriction on the deal, so 4pm on a Wednesday is the civilised time to get a seat. Monday they don’t open until 5, which shortens that window to an hour.

Happy hourDaily 2–7pm

Five hours of happy hour, every day of the week, in a room with a leopard-print floor and a pressed-tin ceiling that has outlasted everything around it. The Verdict: the reliable Wednesday — no special, no theme night, just $2 off any liquor drink and $1 off any beer from the moment they open at 2pm. The cheap tier of beers lands at $4. The Local Move: the beer-and-shot combo, a $2 well shot with any beer, is the correct order and the reason people stay. The Honest Caveat: the $2-off excludes well shots on their own, and we previously listed a $7 wine here — they don’t price wine by the glass at all. Open till 4am.

The Wednesday deals that aren’t

Four things every other list will tell you are Wednesday deals. Three of them we were telling you too, until we checked the menus this week.

Dolly’s (fka Dolly Varden) — Hell’s Kitchen

We ran a "Wine Wednesday" here with $10 house wine and $2 oysters. It does not exist. The venue rebranded to Dolly’s, and its current menu has no Wednesday special, no wine deal and no oysters anywhere on the page. What it does have is a good all-week happy hour — all day Monday to Friday, $11 Boot Ritas and Boot Beer & Shots, $7 Montauk pilsner, $9 High Noons, $35 boozy buckets. Worth going. Just not because it is Wednesday. See our Hell’s Kitchen guide.

Weather Up — Tribeca

Every list in the city says $1 oysters here, and we said it too. Their Spring 2026 menu has no oysters on it at all. The real happy hour, read off the menu on their own site: every day 5–7pm, $16 cocktails, $6 beer, $12 wine. It is a lovely bar and a fine cocktail. It is not a deal, and it is closed on Sundays. Go here instead for Tribeca oysters: Roxy Bar, four blocks north, $2 each.

Off the Wagon’s "Half Price Hump Day" — Greenwich Village

Not on their board and not on their site. The half-price framing comes from an aggregator listing that contradicts the bar on every point. The real deals are still good and listed above — $2 off the whole bar on weekdays, $7 spritzes Wednesday nights till 4am.

Mama Fox — Bed-Stuy

Permanently closed since August 2024, confirmed on their own site, and still listed as a live Wednesday option by several aggregators. Do not make the trip.

Wednesday happy hour: FAQ

What is the best Wednesday happy hour in NYC?

Grey Lady on the Lower East Side is the strongest Wednesday deal in Manhattan — half off every bottle of wine from 4pm until close, plus $1 oysters, $6 drafts and $9 wine from 4 to 7pm. In Brooklyn, Siren in the South Slope runs 50% off all bottles from 5 to 10pm with $1.50 oysters until 7. For a group, Continental Sports Lounge in FiDi does $25 buckets and $30–$35 beer-and-bites combos from 11am to 11pm.

Where can I get half-price wine bottles on a Wednesday in NYC?

Three places, all verified: Grey Lady (77 Delancey St, Wednesday 4pm–close), Siren (687 5th Ave, South Slope, Wednesday 5–10pm) and Black Forest Brooklyn (733 Fulton St, Fort Greene, all day Wednesday). Brooklyn Winery in Greenpoint also runs half-price bottles, but only on the first Wednesday of the month and only for wine club members plus one guest.

Are there $1 oyster happy hours on Wednesday in NYC?

Yes. John Doe in NoMad runs $1 oysters daily from 11am to 8pm, The Beast Next Door in Long Island City does $1 oysters Sunday to Friday 4–7pm (max 12 per person, drink purchase required), and Valerie in Midtown has $1 oysters Monday to Friday 4–7pm. Slightly above a dollar: Roxy Bar in Tribeca at $2, Lamonte in Williamsburg at $2.50, and LELABAR in the West Village at $3.

What time do Wednesday happy hours start in NYC?

Earlier than you would expect. John Doe, Blend on the Water and Continental Sports Lounge all start at 11am, The Stumble Inn at noon, and 169 Bar at 2pm. Most of the rest run 4–7pm. The latest-running Wednesday deals are Off the Wagon’s $7 spritzes until 4am and Jake’s Dilemma’s $5 drafts until 2am.

Is there anything to do on a Wednesday in NYC besides drink?

Someday Bar in Boerum Hill runs Flamboyance, a drag show, every Wednesday at 9pm, after $2 hot dogs from Wurst Wednesdays. Fresco’s Grand Cantina in Astoria hosts FACT CHECK trivia from 7 to 10pm with drag performances between rounds. Roxy Bar in Tribeca has live music every Wednesday from 5.30pm with no cover.

Which Wednesday happy hour deals are not real?

Three worth knowing. Dolly’s in Hell’s Kitchen (formerly Dolly Varden) has no Wine Wednesday — its happy hour runs all day Monday to Friday with no wine deal. Weather Up in Tribeca has no oysters on its current menu at all, despite being widely listed for $1 oysters; its real happy hour is $16 cocktails, $6 beer and $12 wine, daily 5–7pm. And Off the Wagon has no "Half Price Hump Day" — that comes from a stale aggregator listing.
