Bua: A St. Marks Place Late-Night Bar With $20 Wine Carafes Until 7pm
Bua sits on St. Marks Place in the East Village, and its weekday happy hour is one of the better-value windows on the block: $12 cocktails, $10 well drinks, $2 off drafts and a $20 carafe of house wine that normally costs $36. It runs Monday through Friday from opening until 7pm — that means 4pm Monday to Thursday and a long 2pm start on Friday.
The rest of the night is the other half of the pitch. Bua is open until 4am every day and the kitchen runs until 2am, so the fried chicken sandwich and the Bua Burger are still on long after the deal ends. It has been written up by Time Out, Thrillist, New York Magazine and Gothamist, but it plays as a neighborhood bar, not a destination.
The Happy Hour
Happy hour runs Monday through Friday from open until 7pm. Doors open at 4pm Monday to Thursday and 2pm on Friday, so Friday gets five hours. Listed cocktails drop to $12 from $15, well drinks are $10, draft beer is $2 off, and a carafe of house wine is $20 instead of $36 — the best move on the sheet if there are two or more of you. There is no weekend happy hour. Prices were checked against Bua’s own site in October 2026; confirm before you go if you’re coming for one specific deal.
The Room
Bua is on the St. Marks Place stretch east of First Avenue, with café seating on the open street out front when the weather cooperates. Inside it’s a straightforward neighborhood bar: a draft list, a whiskey list and a Pimm’s Cup it’s known for. The closest trains are the L at First Avenue and the 6 at Astor Place.
