The sixth borough · Happy Hour Guide

Jersey City & Hobokenhappy hour, by neighborhood

The best happy hours on the PATH side of the river right now are Hudson Hall in Downtown Jersey City ($3 Miller High Life, Mon–Fri 11:30am–6pm), Lokal on the waterfront ($1 oysters, every day 4–6pm), Green Rock in Hoboken ($1 domestic mugs, Tue–Fri 5–8pm), Pint by Grove Street ($5 wells and $4 beers, every day until 7pm) and Sorellina uptown in Hoboken ($10 Negronis at the bar, all night Monday). Five neighborhoods, 66 bars and restaurants, checked against the venues’ own menus in October 2026. Same rule as the other five boroughs: if a “deal” is a trap, or we can’t find a source for it, we say so.

Jersey City & Hoboken happy hours on the map

37 Jersey City & Hoboken happy hours with their times, across 5 neighborhood guides.

Jersey City and Hoboken drink like a borough that happens to be in another state: one PATH stop from the World Trade Center, three from 33rd Street, and cheaper than anything on the other side. Downtown Jersey City is the deepest bench, a plaza of bars by the Grove Street PATH with $3 beers and $5 tapas; the waterfront from Exchange Place to Newport has dollar oysters with the skyline across the water; Hoboken has a deal almost every night of the week, from $1 mugs by the PATH to half-price oysters uptown. Further in, Journal Square and the Heights are honest neighborhood pages: few posted happy hours, good local bars, and India Square’s food if you bring a bottle. What’s on this minute? Every happy hour on right now, nearest first.

The rundown

How to work the PATH side

Jersey City and Hoboken are two cities, five neighborhoods and one train line. Here’s how they break down.

Downtown Jersey City is the after-work belt. Downtown is one stop from the World Trade Center, and the bars around the Grove Street PATH post real, priced deals: $3 High Life at Hudson Hall until 6pm, $5 wells at Pint every day, a $10 pint-and-kielbasa at Wurstbar, $5 tapas at Skinner’s Loft, and a Friday at The Ashford where nearly everything is $5. On the river, the waterfront does oysters: $1 at Lokal every day, $1.50 at Blue Anchor in Newport.

Hoboken is a nightly calendar. Hoboken runs a happy hour nearly every night of the week, and several last all night: Monday at Sorellina, Tuesday at Sirenetta, Backstage and River Street Garage, Wednesday at Grand Vin, Thursday at Texas Arizona. The PATH end is cheap beer and sports bars; uptown is oysters, wine and aperitivo.

Uptown Jersey City is a neighborhood, not a happy-hour scene. Journal Square and the Heights have good local bars and very few posted deals. The exception is Cafe Alyce in McGinley Square, half off all drinks 3–6pm. India Square is almost entirely BYOB, which is its own kind of deal.

On timing and value: prices on this side run a dollar or three below Manhattan before any discount, and the PATH runs late. Most happy hours are weekday 4–7pm, but the long ones start at 11:30am or noon. After something specific? The oyster happy hours, Irish bars and sports bars roundups cover the other five boroughs too.

What’s on tonight

The day guides now include Jersey City and Hoboken: every bar with a happy hour that day, earliest first. Weekends are thin on this side too. Pint, Skinner’s Loft and Belo Bar are the exceptions.

Why is Jersey City on a New York City guide?

Because a lot of New Yorkers drink there. Downtown Jersey City is closer to the World Trade Center by PATH than most of Brooklyn is by subway. We call it the sixth borough, and we hold it to the same standard: posted deals, checked against the venue, dated.

Happy hour deals change, and not always with notice. We check and date every listing, but the bar is the final word, so confirm before you make the trip. Last updated October 30, 2026.
