Corner Bar: Half-Price Burgers and $2 Oysters Inside the Nine Orchard Hotel
Corner Bar runs a happy hour every day from 3 to 5pm at 60 Canal Street, inside the Nine Orchard hotel at the corner of Allen Street: $2 East Coast oysters, $4 shrimp cocktail, the Nine Orchard burger with fries for $18, $12 cocktails, $10 wine and $6 beer.
The verdict: this is the best two hours in an expensive room. The burger is $36 at lunch and dinner. A half-dozen oysters is $30 at night and $12 from 3 to 5. Martinis are $22 on the dinner list, and the classic is $12 here. Order off the discounted lines and leave the rest for another night. The honest caveat is the clock: 3 to 5pm is a desk-hours window, so for most people this is a weekend move. It runs Saturday and Sunday too, starting right as brunch ends at 3.
The Happy Hour
These prices are from Corner Bar’s own happy hour menu, dated August 2026, for 3–5pm daily. Food: East Coast oysters on the half shell with champagne mignonette are $2 each, shrimp cocktail with horseradish cocktail sauce is $4 each, and the Nine Orchard burger and fries is $18: smoked-onion aioli, pickles, red onion and cheddar. Rosemary fries with dijon aioli are $8, against $12 at dinner.
Cocktails, $12: the Corner Bar Bloody Mary, a Paloma Spritz, a Michelada, an HH Margarita with Lalo blanco and passionfruit, a Matcha Colada, a Café Exprés Martini, the Negroni du Jour and a classic martini with Reyka vodka or Fords gin. The spirit-free Solstice Spritz is $12 too. Wine, $10: a Touraine sauvignon blanc, Bonny Doon’s Le Cigare Orange, a Provence rosé and a sangiovese. Glasses run $18 to $28 at dinner. Beer, $6: Bronx Well Earned pilsner, Grimm Weisse, Talea Fresh Coast IPA, KCBC Beach Zombie sour or Good Time non-alcoholic, all $12 at dinner.
The same sheet lists trout carpaccio ($26), a Caesar ($22), bucatini pomodoro ($26), the club sandwich ($26) and a cheese plate ($24) at their regular prices. The real discounts are on the burger, the raw bar and the drinks. Parties of six or more get a 20% gratuity added automatically. For more oysters in this price range, see our oyster happy hour guide.
The Room
Corner Bar is the restaurant off the lobby of Nine Orchard, the hotel in the old Jarmulowsky Bank building at the east end of Canal Street, where the Lower East Side runs into Chinatown around Dimes Square. It comes from Mattos Hospitality, the group behind Estela and Lodi. It runs from a 7am breakfast through dinner off a wood grill: hanger steak frites au poivre for $55, Atlantic cod for $38, a 32oz dry-aged porterhouse for two at $145. The room is small and quiet enough to talk in, with white subway tile, dark wood and an open kitchen. Book through DoorDash for up to six. Nine Orchard’s other bar, the Swan Room, is in the bank’s former lobby. It’s the place for a nightcap, and it has a spot in our hotel bars guide. For more deals within a few blocks, see the Lower East Side happy hour guide.
