Croton Reservoir Tavern: A Bryant Park Tavern With an $8-Draft Happy Hour in Its Speakeasy

Croton Reservoir Tavern is on West 40th Street, a block from Bryant Park, and its happy hour moves downstairs: Tuesday through Friday from 4 to 8pm in The Speakeasy, cocktails are $12, house wine is $10, drafts are $8 and a cold bottle is $6. Four hours is a long window for Midtown, and the food menu for it is pub-shaped: wings, sliders, flatbreads and a pretzel with beer cheese.

Upstairs is the main event: a 50-foot oak bar, leather banquettes and a dining room doing burgers, brisket and hanger steak with house frites. The house Croton Pilsner is on draft, and the whiskey shelf reaches Weller, Blanton’s and Pappy Van Winkle, with Macallan up to 18 years. OpenTable diners rate it 4.7 from more than 900 reviews, and the dress code is casual.

The Happy Hour

Happy hour runs Tuesday through Friday, 4–8pm in The Speakeasy, the downstairs bar: $12 cocktails, $10 house wine, $8 drafts and $6 cold bottles. When the Speakeasy is booked for a private event, happy hour moves upstairs to the main bar at the same hours and prices. One OpenTable FAQ line says Tuesday to Thursday, but the tavern’s own site and its main OpenTable listing both say Tuesday to Friday, so that’s what we’ve gone with. OpenTable lists the current run through November 30, 2026. Checked on the tavern’s own site in October 2026.

The Room

Croton Reservoir Tavern is at 108 West 40th Street, between Sixth Avenue and Broadway. Downstairs, the lights go down after dark and a DJ plays on select nights. It opens at 11am Monday to Saturday, closing at midnight Monday and Tuesday and 2am Wednesday to Saturday, and runs 3–9pm on Sunday, which makes Sunday an early night. The Speakeasy also books private events. The B/D/F/M at 42nd Street–Bryant Park is about three minutes away.
