RT60 Rooftop Bar & Lounge: A 34th-Floor Times Square Rooftop With a Short, Useful Happy Hour
RT60 is the rooftop bar on the 34th floor of the Hard Rock Hotel at 159 West 48th Street, between Sixth and Seventh, and it does the thing Times Square rooftops rarely bother with: a real happy hour. Tuesday through Friday, cocktails drop to $12 and beers to $8. The verdict: worth it for an early skyline drink. Less worth it once the DJs and the dress code kick in.
The Deal
The happy hour menu runs Tuesday–Friday, 4–6pm:
- $12 cocktails: margarita with Milagro, Moscow mule with Tito’s, an Evan Williams old fashioned, Aviation gin and tonic
- $10 house red or white
- $8 beers: Metropolitan Lager, Ommegang Witte, Heineken, Michelob Ultra
The honest caveat: the bar’s posted hours start at 5pm, so in practice you’re working with an hour. Get there at 5.
The Room
It’s a glass-enclosed bar with lounge seating and two outdoor terraces, one facing north, one south, so you get the skyline both ways. There’s a smaller private area for groups, and parties of 10 or more book through the nightlife team.
The Drinks
Off the happy hour menu, the signatures run sweet: a White Peach Sangria and something called the French Vanilla Fantasy. There are mocktails too. Shareable bites cover food, and the kitchen winds down to smaller plates later in the night.
After Dark
DJs play Wednesday through Saturday, and the dress code is enforced: polished, no athleisure, no flip-flops, no baseball caps. Show up in a tracksuit and you may be asked to come back another time.
