8th Street Wine Cellar: A West 8th Street Wine Bar With $2 Oysters and $32 Bottles Until 8pm
8th Street Wine Cellar is a wine bar on West 8th Street between Fifth and Sixth Avenues in Greenwich Village, and its happy hour runs every day from the 4pm open until 8pm: select glasses are $11 and select bottles are $32. Monday through Thursday adds an oyster happy hour over the same hours, at $2 an oyster.
The math favors a bottle. Two glasses at $11 come to $22, so if there are two of you staying for a second round, the $32 bottle is the better buy — and a dozen oysters on a weeknight runs $24. It’s a walk-in room: no reservations needed, though groups of six or more are asked to get in touch first. Its sister bar, Bibi Wine Bar, is in the East Village.
The Happy Hour
Happy hour runs daily from 4pm until 8pm, with select glasses at $11 and select bottles at $32. The oyster happy hour runs Monday to Thursday, 4–8pm, with oysters at $2 each. The bar doesn’t say which wines are on the happy-hour list, so ask what’s pouring. One caveat: the bar’s website hasn’t visibly been updated in a while (its footer still reads 2016), so confirm the prices when you sit down. Checked against the venue’s own site in October 2026.
The Room
8th Street Wine Cellar is at 28 West 8th Street, a short walk from Washington Square Park, and it’s open every day from 4pm to 2am, so the room keeps going long after the deal ends. There’s sidewalk seating out front. The nearest trains are the R/W at 8th Street–NYU and the A/B/C/D/E/F/M at West 4th Street–Washington Square.
