Albatross Bar: Queens’ Oldest Gay Bar Pours Two-for-One Until 8pm on Weekdays
Albatross Bar calls itself the oldest gay bar in Queens, and it runs the simplest happy hour in Astoria: buy one, get one, Monday through Friday from 5 to 8pm. It sits on the corner of 37th Street and 24th Avenue, a short walk from the Astoria Boulevard stop on the N and W.
The bar bills itself as the gay “Cheers” of Astoria, friendly to everyone, and it keeps a full calendar to back that up. There’s entertainment most nights — karaoke, trivia, drag and even a paint-and-sip have all been on the weekly schedule — and the current lineup goes up on the bar’s Instagram rather than its website. A May 2026 QNS roundup called it the life of the party and a solid pick for a drag show.
The Happy Hour
Happy hour runs Monday through Friday, 5–8pm, and the deal is two-for-one drinks. Albatross’s own site confirms the 2-for-1 happy hour but doesn’t list the hours or which drinks count; the 5–8pm window comes from a May 2026 QNS guide to LGBTQ+ bars in Western Queens. Doors open at 5pm on weekdays, so the deal starts when you walk in. There’s no weekend happy hour listed. Ask at the bar what qualifies before you order.
The Room
Albatross is at 36-19 24th Avenue and stays open until 4am every night: 5pm–4am Monday to Friday and 3pm–4am on Saturday and Sunday. Draft beer is on tap, gift cards are for sale, and the weekly entertainment schedule — karaoke, trivia, drag — lives on the bar’s Instagram. The N and W at Astoria Boulevard are the closest trains.
