Barfly: A Third Avenue Sports Bar With an Eight-Hour Happy Hour and $5 Beers Until 4am
Barfly is a Third Avenue sports bar that has been pouring since 1987, and it runs happy hour in two long shifts. Monday through Friday from 11am to 7pm, every beer, wine and well drink is $2 off. Then Sunday through Thursday from 10pm to 4am, beers drop to $5 and cocktails to $11. That’s a lot of discounted hours for one block of Gramercy.
Lunch is the other weekday hook: a $12 lunch menu from 11am to 3pm, including the ’Lunch Deal of Champions,’ a burger with a beer (or a Red Bull) for $19. Weekends switch to brunch with a bottomless option from 11am to 3pm. Barfly bills itself as a neighborhood sports bar for cold beer, bar snacks and drinks late into the night. The room has a pool table in the back and a jukebox.
The Happy Hour
Daytime happy hour runs Monday through Friday, 11am–7pm: $2 off all beers, wines and well drinks. That $2 comes off every beer, wine and well, not a short list. Late-night happy hour runs Sunday through Thursday, 10pm–4am, with $5 beers and $11 cocktails. Friday and Saturday nights have no late window, and Saturday and Sunday daytime is brunch, not happy hour. The Room
Barfly is at 244 Third Avenue, around 20th Street, and it’s open 11am to 4am seven days a week. The kitchen runs until 10pm Sunday to Wednesday and 11pm Thursday to Saturday.
