Cat Lounge: A Late-Night FiDi Bar With a Weekday Happy Hour
Cat Lounge, at 96 Greenwich St on the corner of Rector, is a FiDi neighborhood bar that does what most of the neighborhood refuses to do: stay open. Noon to 4am Thursday through Saturday, in a part of town that empties out at 7pm. The cat thing is branding, not a cat café. Nobody’s going to put a kitten in your lap.
The corner has a past. This was the address of the old Pussycat Lounge, one of downtown’s more notorious late-night rooms. The current bar is a lot more ordinary, and that’s a compliment.
The Deal
Happy hour runs Monday–Friday, 4–7pm. The bar doesn’t publish what’s discounted, so go in knowing the window, not the price. The drinks list is a rotating set of drafts plus cocktails. No food menu.
The Room
Two floors. Downstairs is the bar, with NFL, NBA and Premier League on the screens and other games on request. Upstairs is a narrow, low-ceilinged second room with its own bar, dark wood, mirrored shelving and colored LED light. It’s built for private parties and gets loud once a DJ starts.
The weekly rhythm: Thursday after-work sessions from 8pm, DJs on Friday from 9pm playing house, hip-hop and classics, and late Saturdays that run until the lights come up.
