Jade & Clover: $12 Clarified Cocktails and $5 Dumplings Behind an Herbal-Shop Front
Jade & Clover runs its happy hour from opening until 8pm, which means 6–8pm Tuesday to Saturday and 5–8pm on Sunday, at 139 Chrystie Street on the Lower East Side. The two clarified happy hour cocktails are $12 each, beer is $8, wine is $10, a pair of house shots is $10, and dim sum runs from a $3 pork bun to $7 for three soup dumplings. If you’re searching for a “Jade bar happy hour” downtown, this is the one.
The verdict: the discount is real and the bar is serious. The regular list runs $19 to $23 a drink. That’s a clarified Thai tea with Tullamore D.E.W., Teeling and matcha shaken with Guinness syrup and egg white, and a Toki whisky drink built on Shaoxing wine, soy and black garlic. Before 8, the Lychee Martini and the Ube Daiquiri are $12, and three shumai are $5. Make it dinner. The honest caveat: the window is two hours (three on Sunday), and a 20% gratuity goes on every check for four or more.
The Happy Hour
These prices are from Jade & Clover’s own menu, dated September 2026, which flags happy hour as running until 8pm. Cocktails, $12: two clarified drinks. The Lychee Martini is Mijenta blanco, jasmine liqueur, lychee, jasmine tea, lemon and condensed milk. The Ube Daiquiri is Ten To One white rum, ube, lime and coconut cream. Shots, $10: The Perfect Pair, meaning the house Jade Tea Shot and the Irish Breakfast Shot, normally $9 each. Beer, $8: Tsingtao, an IPA or Guinness, all $10 off happy hour. Wine, $10: sauvignon blanc, rosé, cabernet sauvignon or prosecco, against $14 a glass the rest of the night.
Dim sum: three soup dumplings (pork or chicken) for $7, three dumplings (shumai, crystal shrimp or vegetable) for $5, and a steamed pork bun for $3. On the current menu, dim sum is listed only on the happy hour page. The regular menu covers fries ($14), six wings ($18), spring rolls ($14–$19), walnut shrimp ($18) and XO seafood fried rice ($21). The Room
You walk in through what looks like a traditional Chinese herbal shop, jars of herbs and all. The front room has a stone bar and a gilded back bar. Behind it is a back room of lounge seating that takes up to 40 for private events, and the full venue holds 100. The four founders, Jon Yu, Dennis Condon, Donald Nguyen and Annie Cao, have roots in Chinatown. The concept is Irish whiskey meets Asian flavors, so the back bar carries more than a dozen Irish whiskeys and the kitchen sends out an Irish Spice Bag of fried chicken bites with Sichuan pepper. The bar buys locally too: the Tea-Killah uses fresh sugarcane juice from Chinatown’s Sugarcane Daddy NYC. Our Chinatown happy hour guide and Lower East Side happy hour guide cover the rest of the area. It’s open until 3am Friday and Saturday.
