So & So's: A Hell's Kitchen Piano Bar With a 5–7pm Tiny 'Tini Hour
So & So’s is the piano bar and supper club tucked into the back of the Romer Hell’s Kitchen hotel at 851 8th Avenue, with its own door on West 52nd Street just off Eighth. It’s open Tuesday–Saturday from 5pm, with live entertainment those nights: cabaret, piano, DJs, drag. Verdict: worth it, especially early. The happy hour isn’t cheap, but it’s the cheapest way into a room that charges for the show later.
The Deal
Tiny ’Tini Hour runs Tuesday–Saturday, 5–7pm. Mini cocktails are $16: a martini (dirty or dry, gin or vodka), an espresso martini, and two house drinks called the Aeroplane and Keys & Blossoms. Beer is $8, wine is $14, and the small plates (crudité, K-Pop fries, Korean BBQ pork belly) run $14–$16. The honest caveat: a $16 “deal” martini is a Midtown-adjacent number. The real saving is skipping the $10-per-person entertainment fee that gets added once the performers start.
The Food
Supper-club cooking with a sense of humor, built on continental classics. If you’re making a night of it before a show, the Blue Door prix fixe is $55 for two courses or $65 for three.
The Room
A hotel bar that doesn’t feel like one. You come in the back way, it runs as a piano bar, and the calendar rotates performers across genres. It books private events for up to 110 people.
