Hungry rather than thirsty? → The 15 best restaurants in Hell’s Kitchen
Hell’s Kitchen happy hour is the best-value stretch in midtown Manhattan, and the three to know right now are Hardware Bar (half-price drinks, seven days, 2–8pm), Alfie’s ($10 cocktails and $8 beer from 11am to 7pm on weekdays) and Kashkaval Garden, where $8 wine, beer and mixed drinks run all day, every day, at the bar. Add $1.50 oysters at Bocca di Bacco and Marseille and Dutch Fred’s Midnight Run, which puts $10 drinks and $6 drafts on the bar seven nights a week from midnight. We verified all 32 venues below against the bars’ own menus in August 2026 — and removed four deals that turned out not to exist. The A/C/E at 50th and the 1 at 50th put you in the middle of it; almost everything here is walkable from Ninth Avenue.

Map: where these 32 spots are
Ninth Avenue is the spine and Tenth is where the value gets better. The A/C/E at 50th, the 1 at 50th and the N/Q/R/W at 49th all drop you inside the cluster.
Pins are numbered to match the table above — tap any pin for the deal and directions.
Happy hour twice a day
Nine spots on this page run a second window after the first one ends — most of them long after. That is the thing Hell’s Kitchen does that no other neighborhood does, and it is why this list opens here. More in our best late-night food in NYC guide.
Dutch Fred’s On now
The Happy Meal gets the headline and the Midnight Run is the better deal. Seven nights a week, from midnight until they close: $10 margaritas, $10 whiskey sours, $10 wines by the glass, $6 select drafts. Nothing else in Hell’s Kitchen runs a full priced happy hour every single night after twelve. The $27 Happy Meal — kale Caesar or beef sliders, small fries, and a house gin or vodka martini, 4 to 11pm daily — is a fair pre-show plate but you are paying for the martini. The local move: come after the curtain, not before. Tuesdays add $12 margaritas and $5 tacos all night; Wednesdays drop every wine by the glass to $10.

Blue Seafood Bar On now
Two dollars an oyster, a dollar fifty a clam, twice a day, every day. Six-piece minimum on both. Add $5 well mixed drinks, $8 well cocktails, $6 Stella on draft, $7 sparkling and $8–9 wines by the glass, and take $4 off a bottle if you order a dozen. Worth it. This is the best raw-bar value in the neighborhood and it is nine blocks north of the theaters, which is exactly why it stays good. The honest caveat: bar area only — sit at a table and you pay list. The local move: the 10pm window is the quiet one.
Alfie’s On now
Eight hours on a weekday, then five more overnight. Weekdays run 11am to 7pm and 11pm to 4am; weekends shift to 4–7pm and 11pm to 4am. Old fashioned $10, classic margarita $10, gin and tonic $10, well drinks $9, pinot grigio $8, pinot noir $8, amber ale $8, pilsner $8. The verdict: nowhere else in Hell’s Kitchen can you get a ten-dollar old fashioned at half past eleven in the morning and again at three in the morning. It is not a beautiful room and it does not need to be. The badge on this card only counts the weekday window — the overnight one is real, just not something we will flash a live light for.

By & By On now
Their own page says daily 4–6pm and midnight to 2am. Their own hours say they are shut on Mondays, and they close at 10pm Tuesday and Wednesday — so the overnight window can only really fire Thursday through Saturday. We have encoded it Tuesday to Sunday and left the badge off Monday. They publish no happy hour prices at all, and we are not going to invent them: list prices run $18 cocktails, $12–30 wines, $5–10 beer, so “discounted” from there is worth asking about at the bar. The better-value move is the $85 dinner for two — a shared small plate, two big plates, a shared dessert and two glasses of house wine, Tuesday to Saturday, reservation required.

Miss Nellie’s On now
A two o’clock start is rare this far east in Hell’s Kitchen, and Miss Nellie’s runs it Monday to Friday, then comes back every night at 11pm until close. Negroni $10, hugo spritz $10, spicy margarita $10, Founder’s Solid Gold $6, house wines $12 — the prosecco, the sauvignon blanc, the vermentino, all $12. The verdict: the drinks are properly made and the room is a genuine production, which makes the ten-dollar cocktail the best-value thing on this block. The honest caveat: a $30 charcuterie board is not a happy hour snack. Order the truffle chips or eat somewhere else first.

Giardino 54 On now
Twice a day, seven days, in a garden on a block with nothing else on it. Stella $6, well mixed drinks $7, wine by the glass $8, well cocktails and martinis $10, aperol spritz $10, negroni $10, and a 500ml carafe of wine or sangria for $20. Bruschetta $7, parmigiana $16, polpette $17. The honest caveat, and it matters: their menu index points to a happy hour sheet dated August 2024, but that file 404s on their own server — the prices above come from the November 2022 PDF still live on the site. The window is current and consistent everywhere. Confirm the numbers when you order. Bar area only.

The long windows
Six hours, seven hours, eight. These are the deals you can plan a whole afternoon around. See also our Saturday happy hour guide.
Hardware Bar On now
Six hours. Seven days. Half off. That is the longest genuinely-every-day happy hour we found anywhere in Hell’s Kitchen, and the bar opens at 2pm precisely so it can start it. No cover, ever. The honest caveat: they publish the discount, not the list — so there is no absolute price we can print, and we are not going to guess one. Half of something unstated is still the best structural deal on Tenth Avenue. The local move: the programming is the point after dark — Broadway Mondays, Rice and Beans Tuesdays, Eurobop and Pier Pressure Wednesdays, TV Pop Thursdays, Surge Saturdays. Come at 6 for the prices, stay for whichever night it is.

Sir Henry’s On now
Monday and Tuesday the happy hour runs all day. Wednesday to Friday it is 3 to 7pm. Nothing on Saturday or Sunday. Pornstar martini, limoncello spritz, espresso martini and the Dry Spell all $12; house lager and hazy IPA $7; sauvignon blanc, pinot noir and cabernet $10. The verdict: this is an Eighth Avenue address, which normally means Times Square pricing and Times Square crowds — the Monday and Tuesday all-day window is what makes it a local play instead. The badge only fires Wednesday to Friday because they publish no opening time, and we will not light a live pill on an hour we cannot name. It took over the old Q NYC space.

Kashkaval Garden On now
Here is the part almost every guide misses, this one included until today: at the bar and the chef’s table, happy hour pricing runs all day, every day — Saturday too. Eight dollars for wine, beer or a mixed drink, nine for a mocktail, at two in the afternoon on a Saturday, with no window to beat. At a table it is the ordinary Sunday-to-Friday 3–6pm. The verdict: best sit-down-with-food value above 55th Street, and the garden out back is a real garden. The local move: same-day theater ticket gets you 10% off after the show. The badge tracks the table window; the bar deal never stops.

Dolly’s On now
They call it the All Day Happy Hour. It ends at 3:45pm. Read that again before you walk over after work, because the name has caught a lot of people out. Noon to 3:45, Monday to Friday: Boot Ritas $11 and a dollar for a flavour, City Girl cosmo $11, boot beer and a shot $11, Montauk Surf pilsner $7, High Noon $9, Downeast peach mango cider $8, and a five-can boozy bucket for $35. Worth it if you are eating lunch. Skip it if you are coming at six. The local move: Thursdays put martinis at $11 all night, which is the only evening deal here.

all & sundry On now
Seven hours long and, we will say it plainly, the weakest discount on this page. A $16 rhubarb sour and $14 wine at happy hour is a price cut in name more than in effect. What is actually worth coming for: the $8 Guinness, the $9 onion rings, the $18 bistro burger, and a kitchen that serves until 2am every night of the week — which above 57th Street is close to a public service. Go here instead if you want a cheap round: Kashkaval Garden is four avenues’ walk south and half the price. Come to all & sundry at midnight when you are hungry and everything near Columbus Circle has shut its kitchen.

Where the oysters are cheap
A dollar fifty is the going rate here, which is better than most of Manhattan manages. The full city list is in our $1 oyster happy hours guide.
Bocca di Bacco Theater District On now
A dollar fifty an oyster, six minimum, from four in the afternoon until whenever they close — 10pm Sunday to Tuesday, 11pm Wednesday and Thursday, midnight on Friday. Six nights a week, no Saturday. Rockefeller oysters $2.50 each. Beer $6, house wine $9, sangria $12, aperol spritz and spicy margarita $12, espresso martini $14. The verdict: a no-cutoff oyster deal three blocks from the theaters is a genuinely useful thing to know, and almost nobody prints it. The honest caveat: bar only, and there is not much bar — go early or eat late. The badge is encoded conservatively to 10pm because that is the earliest they shut.
Bocca di Bacco Hell’s Kitchen On now
Same operator, same six-nights-a-week structure, fifteen blocks north and considerably calmer. Peroni, Flower Power and Amstel Light $6; red, white, rosé and prosecco $9; aperol spritz, very berry, basil bocca, watermelon sugar and La Picosa $12; espresso martini $14. Calamari $10, meatballs $10, crab cake $12, arancini $12, cheeseburger sliders $14. Worth it if you live up here and do not feel like walking into the 9th Avenue crush at 45th. Note the address history: this is the old BarBacon room, which closed — if a guide sends you here for bacon, that guide has not been updated in years. Bar only, no Saturday.

Marseille On now
Two hours, every day, and it is oysters only — a dollar fifty for PEI Malpeques and not a cent off any drink. We are stating that clearly because two other guides list this as a general happy hour and it is not one. Judged as an oyster deal it is excellent: a proper brasserie dining room at 44th and Ninth, white tablecloths, no bar-only restriction, and the cheapest oyster in the theater district. The local move: order the oysters here at 4pm, then walk two doors up for a drink that is actually discounted. One correction: the window ends at 5:30pm, not 6:30 — the 6:30 figure is a 2023 number still circulating.

Restaurant Row and the theater district
Between Eighth and Ninth on 44th to 48th, where the pre-show crowd goes. Some of it is a trap. This is not. Pair it with our best Theater District restaurants.
Lady Blue On now
A dozen oysters and a whole bottle of prosecco for $38 is the single best-value line item on Restaurant Row and it is not close. Around it: limoncello lemon drop martini $10, house margarita $9 with a dollar for passionfruit or dragonfruit, old fashioned $9, Stella and Kona Big Wave down from $9 to $6, wine $9. Then it starts again — Sunday to Thursday from 10pm, Friday and Saturday from 11pm, with negronis, Manhattans and margaritas at $11. The honest caveat: their menu says “open till 7pm” without publishing an opening time, so we have encoded the badge conservatively from 4pm. Come earlier and you will likely still get it.

Sicily Osteria On now
Four and a half hours is a long window for Restaurant Row, and the food prices are the reason to use it: Wagyu meatballs at $2 for two pieces and oysters at $2 each, both six-piece minimums. Panelle $7, crocché $9, arancini $10. Drinks: Amstel Light, Flower Power and Fat Tire $6; house red, white, rosé and sparkling $9; aperol, limoncello and hugo spritzes, margarita and negroni all $10. Worth it — this is a proper Sicilian kitchen, not a theater-district conveyor belt. The honest caveat: bar only, and it is closed to happy hour on Friday and Saturday, which are exactly the nights you would want it.

5 Napkin Burger On now
A four-dollar Brooklyn Lager two blocks from Times Square is not a thing that should exist, and yet. Brooklyn Lager and Hi Life bottles $4, $2 off every draft and wine by the glass, frozen margaritas $8, Tito’s and premium wells $10, and half price on the apps — guacamole and chips, truffle fries, the onion ring tower, spinach and artichoke dip, vegan cauliflower bites. Weekdays 3–6pm, then again Sunday to Thursday from 9pm to close. The verdict: it is a small chain and it is not trying to be cool, but the numbers are the numbers, and the half-price onion ring tower feeds three people for the price of one cocktail up the street.

Rosevale Cocktail Room On now
Martini Hour, and only martini hour: Sunday to Thursday, 7 to 9pm, on the second floor of the Civilian Hotel. Sixteen dollars for one martini is not a bargain. Twenty-three dollars for three of them, side by side, is the actual offer and the only reason to put this on the page. Worth it as a post-show sit-down when everything else in the theater district is a scrum and you want a room with chairs in it. The honest caveat: one guide says the deal is bar-seating only; the venue’s own page does not say that, so we are not printing it as fact — ask when you sit down. It is a narrow, late, single-drink window. Judge it as that and it is good.

At Nine Restaurant & Bar On now
Six hours, six days — noon to 6pm Monday to Friday and again on Sunday, nothing on Saturday. Their own menu names the drinks: margarita, paloma, mint mojito, hugo spritz, aperol spritz, lychee martini. It names no prices, so neither will we. That is a real gap and we would rather say so than print a number nobody published. Why it is on the page anyway: a noon window six days a week is genuinely rare here, the window itself is first-party, and it is the only Thai bar on this stretch of Ninth running one. Ignore the “$7 martini all day and night” figure floating around — that is a 2023 number their current menu contradicts.

Flaming Saddles Saloon On now
Five dollars for a beer or a glass of wine, five hours a day, five days a week — and it keeps going at weekends from 2 to 6pm with mimosas, bloody marys and sangria added at $7. Wells $7, call liquor $9, call cocktails $11. Then the late shift: Monday wells $8 from 10pm, Tuesday tequila $10, Wednesday whisky $10, Sunday draft $6 from 8pm. The verdict: among the cheapest published beer prices in Hell’s Kitchen, in a room where the bartenders line-dance on the bar top. The honest caveat: it is loud, it is a scene, and you will not have a conversation after 9. That is the entire point. The badge tracks the weekday window.

HUSH HK On now
Three dollars off everything, five to nine, six nights a week. Closed Mondays. They publish the discount and not the list, so we cannot print an absolute price and will not estimate one — but a four-hour nightly window that runs to 9pm is longer and later than most of what is around it. Worth knowing: this is the old Therapy space. Therapy closed in 2020 after seventeen years, and at least one happy hour guide published in June 2026 still lists it as open with “$5 drafts, $6 well drinks, daily 5–8pm.” If someone sends you to Therapy on 52nd, this is the room they mean, and these are the real terms.

Boxers HK On now
Two for one, Monday to Friday 4 to 7pm, and all night every Tuesday. The rooftop is open and it is the only gay sports bar in the neighborhood with one. The honest caveat, and it is a real one: Boxers moved. The old corner at 742 Ninth is dead, the new room is at 735, and their own site publishes no street address at all — which is why guides keep sending people to a closed door. We have pinned 735. Check the door before you commit to a Tuesday. No absolute prices are published, so two-for-one is measured off a list you cannot see in advance; on a Tuesday night that still ends up the cheapest way to drink on this block.

Añejo Hell’s Kitchen On now
A ten-dollar blanco margarita made with actual agave, a five-dollar Tecate, and a forty-nine-dollar pitcher that is the best group-drinking number on Tenth Avenue. Añejo, jalapeño and mezcal margaritas $12, agave of the day $10, draft beer $7, wine $8, red or rosé sangria $10. Food: seasonal taco $6, nachos $10, sopes $11, carnitas fries $12, crispy Oaxacan cheese $12. The verdict: two hours is short and it is worth planning around. The why: no bar-only restriction, so you can put four people at a table with a pitcher and six-dollar tacos, which is not a thing Times Square will ever offer you eight blocks east.

No happy hour, because it would be pointless: the price is the price from eight in the morning until four the next. Rudy’s Blonde on draft $4. Bottles and cans from $4. Fireball $4. The All American — Jim Beam and a Rudy’s Blonde — $6. Mexican Hat Dance and the Jameson pickleback $7. And a free hot dog with any purchase, no time limit attached. The honest caveat, and do not skip it: cash only. There is no card, and the big red pig out front is not going to remind you. One correction to our own page: we had the shot-and-beer at $5. It is $6, off their own menu. Thursdays at 6:30 it hosts Drinking Liberally.

Hibernia Bar On now
“Monday to Friday, $6 select drinks, 4–6pm.” That is the entire published deal, word for word, and they never say which drinks. We are printing it as-is rather than dressing it up. The real reason to know this bar is the kitchen: it runs until 2am every single night, which on this side of Eighth Avenue is close to unique. It is also the official Pittsburgh Steelers bar in New York, so plan accordingly on a Sunday in autumn — they run a pregame happy hour with swag giveaways, times unpublished. Premier League and GAA on too, plus an outdoor patio. Go for the 1am burger, not the two-hour window.

Gossip Bar & Restaurant On now
The standing offer is the good one: a $5 classic margarita on the rocks, all day, every day, no window at all. The happy hour itself runs Monday to Friday 4 to 7pm — Budweiser, Coors and Miller Lite $4, select drafts $5, select wines $5, well drinks $5, cosmo and appletini $5. The honest caveat: their OpenTable listing claims a longer noon-to-8pm window that is bar-only and quotes no prices, while their own site gives the shorter window with prices. We have gone with the venue’s own site and flagged the conflict rather than splitting the difference. Thirteen screens, two floors, every league. It is a sports bar and it is honest about it.

The Purple Tongue On now
The weekend window is the interesting one. Almost nothing in Hell’s Kitchen discounts on a Saturday afternoon; this does, 2 to 4pm both days, alongside Tuesday to Friday 4–6pm. Sierra Nevada Pale Ale and Von Trapp Bohemian Pilsner $9, wine by the glass $10, and 15% off every bottle on the list — which on a wine bar’s list is where the real money is. Purple corn chips $4, olives and nuts $7, shishitos $10, sliders $9 for one and $16 for two, pinsa margherita $15. The honest caveat: bar area only, closed Mondays, and $9 for a beer is not cheap — come for the bottle discount and the quiet afternoon, not the pint.

Ardesia Wine Bar On now
Two hours, weekdays only, and the numbers are clean: $8 wines, $10 cocktails, $7 beer. It has been on this block since 2009, which on a stretch of 52nd between Tenth and Eleventh with almost nothing else on it is its own kind of endorsement. The verdict: a proper wine list at a price that does not punish you for ordering a second glass, in a room quiet enough to talk in — which is not a sentence you can write about most of this neighborhood at 5pm. The honest caveat: the prices are on their homepage, not on their own happy hour page, which lists the window and then only says “bigger wine discounts.” Two hours is short. Get there at four.
Mickey Spillane’s
We used to publish “$4 drinks, shots and beers, $5 frozen margaritas, daily, all day” here. We have removed it. It traces to a single W42ST article first published in June 2021 and last touched in June 2023; every other site carrying those numbers is copying that one piece. There is no first-party source, because there is no working first-party site — and be careful, mickeyspillanes.com is a different restaurant in Westchester. One 2026 review still mentions a $5 frozen margarita; another source puts the large one at $10. What we can stand behind: it is open, seven days, until 4am, on a block where that matters. The frozen margarita machine is real. The price is worth asking about rather than assuming.

The Waylon
There is no published happy hour here and we are not going to pretend otherwise. Their own menu says it plainly: check the chalkboards for today’s food and drink specials. That is the model — it changes, it is not online, and any guide quoting you a Waylon happy hour price is quoting a 2021 page. What is true: open at 1pm on weekdays and noon at weekends, running to 4am seven days; a backyard garden; live music Friday and Saturday; and it is the Green Bay Packers bar, with the garden showing games. The local move: walk in, read the board, decide there. On a good day it is the cheapest whiskey on Tenth Avenue. On a bad day you have lost nothing.

No happy hour. We removed these deals.
Two venues we were advertising a happy hour for that does not exist. They stay on the page, honestly framed, because they are still worth your time — just not at the price we had printed.
Hold Fast Kitchen & Spirits
We published “$1 oysters, $6 beer, $7 wine, $8 wells, Monday to Friday 4–8pm” here until today. It is gone. Hold Fast has a dedicated specials page on their own site and right now it reads, in full: “We are updating our specials. Please stay tuned.” Their events page says the same. Their drinks menu has no happy hour section. There is no shrunk deal to report — there is no deal. What you will actually pay: cocktails $14–19, draft beer $10, bottles and cans $5–8, wine by the glass $13–17. Go anyway if you want a serious drink on Restaurant Row before a show. One flag: the hours on their site expired in March and were never replaced, so call ahead.

We published “wine on tap, Sharknado sangria, daily specials” here. That is also gone. We checked all six pages of their own site — homepage, this location, the menus index, contact, and both sister bars — and there is no happy hour section, no window and no discounted price anywhere on any of them. For calibration, the group’s Pocket Bar 57 list runs beer $9–11, cider $10 and nine-ounce wine pours $16–28. Those are not happy hour numbers. Go anyway if you want a small, dark, genuinely neighborhood room at 4pm on a Tuesday with no televisions in it, which is a harder thing to find around here than a cheap drink. Open seven days from 4pm. Back Pocket Bar is a block away at 462 W 49th.

Hell’s Kitchen happy hour: FAQ
What time does happy hour start in Hell’s Kitchen?
Earlier than most of Manhattan. Alfie’s opens its window at 11am on weekdays, all & sundry and At Nine both start at noon, Hardware Bar starts at 2pm and runs half-price until 8pm, and Miss Nellie’s starts at 2pm. The conventional 4–7pm block still covers most of the neighborhood, but nine venues here also run a second, later window.
Where can I get cheap drinks in Hell’s Kitchen?
Rudy’s Bar & Grill has $4 drafts, a $6 shot-and-a-beer and a free hot dog with any purchase — but it is cash only. Flaming Saddles does $5 beer and wine for five hours a day. Hardware Bar is half price seven days a week from 2 to 8pm. Kashkaval Garden holds $8 wine, beer and mixed drinks all day, every day, at the bar.
Is there a late-night happy hour in Hell’s Kitchen?
Yes, and it is the neighborhood’s real specialty. Dutch Fred’s runs the Midnight Run seven nights a week from midnight to close with $10 margaritas, whiskey sours and wine and $6 drafts. Alfie’s runs 11pm to 4am. By & By does midnight to 2am. Blue Seafood Bar and Giardino 54 both restart at 10pm. Miss Nellie’s and Lady Blue restart at 10 or 11pm, and 5 Napkin Burger from 9pm.
What is the best happy hour near the Broadway theaters?
Lady Blue on Restaurant Row for the dozen oysters and a bottle of prosecco at $38. Sicily Osteria for a four-and-a-half-hour window with $2 Wagyu meatballs and $2 oysters, bar only. Bocca di Bacco on Ninth for $1.50 oysters that run from 4pm until they close. Marseille for $1.50 oysters daily, though nothing else there is discounted.
Which Hell’s Kitchen happy hours run at weekends?
Hardware Bar (half price, seven days, 2–8pm), Flaming Saddles (2–6pm Saturday and Sunday), Blue Seafood Bar and Giardino 54 (both daily, twice a day), Marseille (daily), Dutch Fred’s (daily), The Purple Tongue (2–4pm Saturday and Sunday), At Nine (Sundays) and Kashkaval Garden, whose bar price never changes. Most weekday-only deals here exclude Saturday entirely.
What did you remove from this guide, and why?
Four listings. Hold Fast Kitchen & Spirits ($1 oysters, $6 beer, $7 wine, $8 wells, Mon–Fri 4–8pm) — their own specials page now reads “We are updating our specials.” Pocket Bar NYC (wine on tap, Sharknado sangria, daily specials) — no happy hour on any of the six pages of their own site. Mickey Spillane’s ($4 drinks, $5 frozen margaritas) — traceable only to one W42ST article from 2021, last updated 2023. And we corrected Rudy’s shot-and-a-beer from $5 to $6. We also excluded Tacuba, Chez Napoléon, Mercury Bar West, The Spot, Therapy and Casellula, all permanently closed — Tacuba’s own website is still advertising a $9 margarita happy hour, and a guide published in June 2026 still lists Therapy’s drink prices at a bar that closed in 2020.
