The Hairy Lemon: An Avenue B Sports Bar With a Four-Hour Happy Hour and Every Eagles Game
The Hairy Lemon is a sports bar with an Irish pub streak on Avenue B, open since 2017, and its happy hour runs a full four hours: Monday to Friday, 4pm to 8pm, with $5 Coors Light and Bud Light, $7 wells and a $9 beer-and-shot.
It’s a game-day bar first. TVs cover most of the walls, and the place has a declared allegiance: it’s the official Eagles bar in the East Village and a Penn State bar on fall Saturdays. If you’re not here for a game, the four-hour window still makes it an easy after-work stop below Houston.
The Happy Hour
Monday through Friday from 4pm, when the bar opens, until 8pm. $5 Coors Light and Bud Light, $4 Tecate, $7 well drinks, $7 for any glass of wine, $9 for a beer and a shot, $7 green tea shots, $1 off every draft and $2 off every cocktail. No happy hour on weekends, when the bar opens at 11:30am for games. Mondays are wing night with extra food and drink specials, so check with the bar on what’s running before you go.
The Room
TVs, a pool table and a crowd that changes with the fixture list, on Avenue B between 2nd and 3rd Streets. The kitchen does pub food: wings, nachos with real guacamole, waffle fries, shepherd’s pie. It shows every NFL, MLB, NBA and NHL game plus UFC, Six Nations rugby, the Premier League and the Champions League, with Penn State games played with the sound on. Hours shift for early-morning games. Thursday is trivia at 8pm, Sunday nights the pool table is free. The nearest train is the F at 2nd Avenue.
