The Red Stache: A Hell's Kitchen Wine Bar With a Seven-Day Happy Hour
The Red Stache, at 401 W 52nd St on the corner of 9th Avenue, is a 40-seat wine and cocktail bar that took over the old Casellula space in 2023 and turned it into the neighborhood’s living room. The happy hour runs seven days a week. In Hell’s Kitchen, that alone earns it a spot on your list. Worth it.
The Deal
Happy hour is daily, 4–7pm: well drinks, beer, wine, frosé and frozen espresso martinis. The bar doesn’t publish the happy hour prices. On weekends, brunch runs until 4pm with bottomless mimosas and Bloody Marys. Monday is trivia night.
The Drinks
It started as a wine bar and the list still shows it. Glasses ran $12 to $23 when it opened, and there’s a “big spender” list topping out with an $1,100 Solaia if you’re feeling flush. Beyond wine: spritzes, a coffee-infused vermouth drink, and some cheerfully silly cocktails like a Froot Loops Cosmo.
The Room
Forty seats, quieter than the owners’ other Hell’s Kitchen bars. Ted Arenas also runs the gay bars Rise and The Spot; this one was built to be more of a date-night, post-show room that welcomes everyone. Shaun Dunn, formerly of The NoMad, runs the drinks.
The Food
Comfort food from a full kitchen: sliders, flatbreads, cheeses, sandwiches and dessert.
