The Ashford JC: $5 Fridays & Happy Hour on Newark Ave
The Ashford’s Friday is the best $5 deal on the Newark Avenue plaza: from 4 to 7pm, espresso martinis, Aperol spritzes, wine, drafts and apps are all $5.
The Happy Hour
Monday to Thursday, 4–7pm: $5 select apps (mac and cheese bites, sliders, guac and chips, pretzel bites), $5 domestic drafts and select house wine, $6 well drinks and a $5 craft beer of the week. The first hour, 4–5pm, is $2 Miller Lite. Thursday runs to 8pm. Friday 4–7pm is $5 across apps, wine, drafts, sangria, Aperol spritz and lemon drop and espresso martinis. After 7pm on Tuesday it’s tacos: $2 chicken or steak, $5 Modelo and Corona, $7 margaritas.
The Room
A big gold-and-red room on the pedestrian plaza with leather banquettes and chandeliers, a sports bar, a rooftop lounge and a late-night party that runs to 2 or 3am. It hosts drag brunch, and Visit Hudson lists it among the city’s LGBTQ spaces. Boots & Bones across the plaza is the same group.
Before You Go
The bar runs a different deal most nights, so the posted happy hour is the reliable part. It gets loud once the rooftop and DJ crowd arrive.
