Jersey City/Downtown & Grove Street

Downtown Jersey City
Happy Hour

Grove Street, the Newark Avenue plaza, Hamilton Park and Paulus Hook: the densest, cheapest drinking on the PATH side of the river, re-checked against the bars’ own menus.

Hudson Hall starts at 11:30am on weekdays; Pint runs every day until 7pm.

  • 20 spots
  • HH from 11:30am
  • beer from $3
  • $5 tapas at Skinner’s

The best Downtown Jersey City happy hours right now are Hudson Hall ($3 Miller High Life and a $5 house lager, Mon–Fri 11:30am–6pm), Pint ($5 wells, $4 Miller Lite and Yuengling, every day until 7pm), Wurstbar (a pint and a kielbasa for $10, Mon–Fri 4–7pm) and Skinner’s Loft ($5 tapas, 4–6pm, closed Tuesdays). Downtown is one stop from the World Trade Center on the PATH and it drinks cheaper than anywhere in Lower Manhattan: the Grove Street plaza is a block of bars with real posted deals, Hamilton Park and the Village are where the locals sit, and Paulus Hook is the quieter dinner end. This guide puts the priced deals first, then the bars that post a window but not the prices, then the rooms worth knowing with no deal at all. Every price below is from the bar’s own menu unless we say otherwise.
