Bars Near
Barclays Center

Twenty-two rooms within a 14-minute walk of the arena, every deal checked against the bar’s own menu this week — plus the ones on other lists that nobody could source.

Most windows here shut at 6 or 7pm. Dave & Buster’s starts again at 10pm Sun–Thu, Fritz at midnight Fri–Sat.

  • 22 bars, checked this week
  • drinks from $5, three minutes away
  • 4am last call, five minutes away
  • 11 listings we cut

The best bars near Barclays Center right now are Dave & Buster’s, three minutes across Atlantic Avenue with drinks from $5 weekdays 4–7pm and again from 10pm Sunday to Thursday; 4th Avenue Pub, five minutes away, which takes $2 off Founders Solid Gold for two hours before and after every Nets home game and stays open until 4am; Bar Goto Niban for a $12 martini from 5 to 6pm; Fritz for half-price oysters until 6; and gertrude’s for $2.50 oysters Sunday to Thursday. Inside, the arena stops selling alcohol at the start of the fourth quarter and has no re-entry, so the drinking happens out here. Below: the verified deals, where to eat first, what is open after the final buzzer, the rooms worth it without a deal and what we cut.

arcade bar, the closest happy hour to the doors · 625 Atlantic Ave, Suite 311, across Atlantic from the arena · $

  • $5 drinks, the 22oz domestic draft includedMon–Fri 4–7pm
  • Second window, Sun–Thu10pm–close
  • Cocktails and wine, depending on the fine print$5–$8
  • Happy hourMon–Fri 4–7pm, Sun–Thu 10pm–close

Yes, it is a Dave & Buster’s. It is also the closest happy hour to the arena, and the one that starts again at 10pm. About a 3-minute walk across Atlantic Avenue. Monday to Friday, 4–7pm, drinks start at $5 — the 22oz domestic draft is the line to order — and then the whole thing restarts Sunday to Thursday from 10pm until close, the window most likely to line up with a weeknight crowd coming out of the arena. The honest caveat: its own fine print contradicts itself. One footnote puts a glass of wine at $5; a newer one, dated June 2025, puts it at $7 and the cocktails at $6–$8. Both say times and offers vary by location. In store only, nothing to go, and loud in the way you would expect.

  • Bloody Marys and mimosas, Sat–Sun 1–4pm$1 off
  • Happy hourMon–Thu 4–7pm, Fri 3–7pm, Sat–Sun 1–4pm · Nets nights

The only bar around here with a deal built around the Nets. The pub’s own promotions page carries a Hoops & Hops poster: $2 off Founders Solid Gold for two hours before and two hours after every Brooklyn Nets home game. On ordinary weekdays it is a dollar off everything from opening until 7pm — 4pm Monday to Thursday, 3pm Friday — on terms the pub gave us this month, plus $1 off Bloody Marys and mimosas 1–4pm at weekends. Twenty-six craft drafts, sixty-plus cans and bottles, a backyard beer garden. The local move: pay cash and they take 4% off the tab. Open until 4am every night but Sunday. The honest caveat: the Nets poster is undated, so confirm at the bar on game night.

a $19 cocktail bar with a $12 hour · 474 Bergen St, between 5th Ave and Flatbush · $$$

  • $12 martini — Japanese gin or vodka, pickled shallot5–6pm
  • Junmai vodka soda, $17 the rest of the night$12
  • Nori chips$5
  • Happy hourTue–Sun 5–6pm

The best drink within five minutes of the arena, for one hour only. The Brooklyn sibling of the Lower East Side’s Bar Goto runs a 5–6pm happy hour every night it opens: a $12 martini (Japanese gin or vodka, pickled shallot), a $12 junmai vodka soda that is $17 the rest of the night, and $5 nori chips. On the October menu the Bar Goto Vesper, the nearest thing to that martini, is $19. The honest caveat: the site says daily, but the bar is closed on Mondays, so it is Tuesday to Sunday. Walk-ins only, first come, first served. The local move: be on a stool at 5. The arena is about five minutes away, so you can have the whole hour and still beat the queue. Sundays add a shochu and highball menu.

  • Same drink prices, Fri–Satmidnight–1am
  • Martini Monday, rotating martinis all night$12
  • Happy hourDaily till 6pm · Fri–Sat midnight–1am · Mon $12 martinis

Half-price oysters six minutes from the arena, and a second happy hour after midnight. The bar’s own line is “happy hour ’til 6pm everyday”: half-off oysters, $12 select cocktails, $10 house wine, $6 beer. Then on Friday and Saturday it comes back from midnight to 1am at the same drink prices, and every Monday the martinis are $12 all night against $17–$18 on the regular list. The room is a 1920s Berlin fantasy — red cabaret curtain, gold on black, a partly covered backyard — from the German couple behind Black Forest next door. The honest caveat: the doors open at 5pm Monday to Thursday, so on a weeknight “till 6” is one hour, not an afternoon. Friday to Sunday they open at 3 and you get three.

  • Bierkranz — 13 German beers, 0.2L each$63
  • Happy hourMon–Thu 5–6pm, Fri 3–6pm

The cheapest half-liter near the arena, with a catch in the clock. Black Forest’s own menu: a half-liter of Hofbräu Original or Dunkel for $6, weekdays until 6pm, holidays excluded. But the Fort Greene room does not open until 5pm Monday to Thursday, so most days that is a one-hour window; Friday it opens at 3 and you get three. Wednesday, every bottle of wine is half price. Tuesday and Sunday are free trivia nights run by NYC Trivia League, and a group that wants to taste everything can order the Bierkranz, thirteen 0.2L pours for $63. The local move: this is also where featured Premier League matches go on the big screen with sound and the NFL is on the bar TVs, so the football fan in your group is covered too. The prices are posted. The hours they apply to are not. Endswell’s happy-hour page lists an $11 martini or old fashioned, $9 house wine, a $7 Estrella and a short snack list — $4 frites, $6 truffle popcorn, $8 smoked-trout deviled eggs — and never says when any of it runs. We had been publishing 5–7pm on weekdays with a $9 old fashioned and an $8 lager; the prices have moved and no window appears on their page, so we have dropped ours until they post one. What is certain: it opens at 5pm Monday to Thursday, 3pm Friday and 11am at weekends, and stays open until 1am midweek and 2am on Friday and Saturday — late enough to work after a game. The longest weekday window this close to the arena, and the earliest start. Monday to Friday, 2 to 6pm: a $5 house lager, $8 house wine, and the margarita or old fashioned at $10 instead of $13, with $4 seasoned fries and $12 nachos to soak it up. Every listing we found, ours included, still says 3–7pm; the bar’s own page says two to six, and the bar wins. It is a game room at heart — it will not take reservations for Arsenal, Knicks or NFL games, which tells you who fills it — and Guinness is $9. The local move: walk in at 5 for a last hour of $5 lagers; the arena is about seven minutes away. Open until midnight Monday to Wednesday and 1am Thursday to Saturday.

  • Happy hourMon all day · Tue–Fri 4–7pm

The answer for a Monday game: the happy hour never stops. Tuesday to Friday it runs 4–7pm; on Monday it runs all day. The terms are modest — a $9 margarita, $9 select wines, a $10 ginger mule, a dollar off select drafts — but on a Monday you can arrive at noon and leave for the arena on the same prices. Before 4pm on weekdays there is also a burger with any draft for $20. It is a sports pub with a long bar-food menu — mozzarella sticks, popcorn chicken, nachos, a cast-iron mac and cheese — about an 8-minute walk away on Ashland Place. The honest caveat: its own site gives two different sets of closing times on the same page, so if you are coming after a show, ring first.

The closest real kitchen to the arena with a happy-hour menu — just not a happy-hour clock. Chef Wenford “Patrick” Simpson’s Caribbean and soul-food room is about a 5-minute walk across Atlantic Avenue, and its own menu carries a Happy Hour Apps section: eight wings — jerk, honey curry, bourbon barbecue or buffalo — for $10, coconut shrimp, sliders or jerk-chicken cheese fries for $9, a jerk taco for $11. The same starters run $17 on the regular menu, so the cut is real. What the restaurant does not publish is when that menu applies, or any drink price, so ask before you order. • Happy hourSun–Thu 5–6:30pm

The best pre-game meal deal near the arena, and a reason to use the Dean Street doors. Sunday to Thursday, 5 to 6:30pm, all through the restaurant: oysters at $2.50 apiece (six minimum), the house martini at $12 when every martini on the list is otherwise $18, the Killsboro house draft at $6 instead of $10, and draft bubbles at $10. It is a self-described “Jew-ish” neighborhood bistro — latkes, smoked fish, seven-layer cake — with Chef Eli Sussman, formerly of Mile End, in the kitchen. About an 11-minute walk from the main entrance and six from the Dean Street exit. The honest caveat: dinner ends at 10pm, so this is strictly before, never after. Other lists still quote a $10 martini and $2 oysters; the restaurant’s own page says $12 and $2.50.

Half-price oysters, Monday to Thursday, 4 to 6pm — the half you can count on. That part is printed plainly on the restaurant’s own happy-hour page. The other part, “specials for wine, beer, spritzes”, comes with no numbers, so we are not inventing any. Walter’s is a proper all-day restaurant — lunch from 11am on weekdays, brunch from 9am at weekends, a 4–5pm afternoon menu bridging the gap to dinner — so you can eat here rather than just snack. About a 12-minute walk up from the arena, the furthest of the oyster deals on this page and the calmest. The local move: better for a Liberty game or a midweek concert than a Friday Nets game; the deal does not run on Fridays.

The only after-work window near the arena that runs until 8pm, and it runs six days a week. Monday to Saturday, 5–8pm: $5 bottle and draft beers, $5 well shots, $8 wine, $10 house cocktails and sangria, and a real food list — $7 beef or jerk-chicken empanadas, $8 cod fritters, $10 birria tacos, $12 for any burger or sandwich combo. A combo and a beer comes to about $20 with everything added on. The honest caveat, and read it before you order: its own menu says a 15% gratuity is added to every check and there is a 3% fee on card payments, so a $5 beer is nearer $6 by the time you pay. One price, no arithmetic: everything on the happy-hour menu is $10. Monday to Thursday, 3 to 6pm, that covers the house margarita, a michelada, a Tecate with a shot of tequila, two Spanish wines, and the snacks — three salsas with chips, spinach queso fundido, nachos, a quesadilla, yuca fries. Chef Akhtar Nawab’s room sits on the corner of Vanderbilt and Dean and sells itself as a pre-event stop for Barclays, which from the Dean Street doors is about nine minutes away; from the main entrance it is nearer fourteen. No happy hour is published, so we are not inventing one. What the bar does publish: Nets and Liberty games on multiple TVs and a projector, two regulation dartboards that are free to use, an original trivia night every Wednesday at 8 with questions written in-house for more than a decade, and a backyard. Open until 2am every night with the kitchen going late — the easiest after-show meal near the arena. Hollow Nickel’s site says it plainly: happy hour seven days a week from opening until 7pm, which works out to 4–7pm Monday to Thursday and 2–7pm Friday to Sunday. It does not say what the happy hour costs, and the prices floating around belong to other websites, so we print the window and nothing else. After a game the food is the point: double smash burgers, a bacon-wrapped hot dog, hand-cut fries. Named for the 1953 Hollow Nickel spy case, cracked when a Brooklyn Eagle newsboy dropped a nickel that felt too light. The local move: it is across the street from Eastville Comedy Club and Roulette, so it doubles as the pre-show bar for both. About a 7-minute walk.

There is no happy hour on the menu it posted this year — the $1 wings and $3 Coors Light on other lists are not on it — but the standing offer is decent: any draft and a well shot for $10, with Coors Light at $6.50 and pitchers from $18. The honest caveat: a 15% gratuity is added to every check; the menu says so in capitals at the bottom. About a 13-minute walk down Flatbush.

Three negronis for $15 is the best-value round on this page, and it runs every day. Lele’s Roman calls it aperitivo rather than happy hour, 5 to 7pm daily: a 2.5oz baby negroni is $5 and three are $15, against $9 and $22 the rest of the night, with $8 Moretti, $10 wine or prosecco, a $12 house spritz, a $15 martini and $7 Roman bar bites. It is in the Ace Hotel on Schermerhorn Street, about a 13-minute walk west of the arena. The local move: this is the weekend answer. Outside the window, the standing beer-and-a-shot list starts at $10 for a lager and an Evan Williams, and advertises $10 all night on Tuesdays. About a 14-minute walk from the main entrance, nine if you leave by the Dean Street exit. Its own site publishes no happy hour, and the weekday one other listings give it, ours included, is nowhere on that site, so we are not printing one. Eleven listings that turn up on other guides, or on ours, and did not survive a check. No source for the deal: The Armory (149 4th Ave), where the $5-beer weekday happy hour in our own listing is nowhere on its site and Mondays are now given over to nonprofit events; Miriam (79 5th Ave), whose site does not mention the 4–6pm happy hour our profile still claims; The Little Pig (497 Atlantic Ave), whose October menus carry no happy hour; Wayward Fare (554 Vanderbilt Ave), whose 4–6:30pm window is still filed under “spring hours”; Hops Hill (533 Atlantic Ave), whose site lists opening hours and nothing else; and Sharlene’s (353 Flatbush Ave), which has no website to back the $3 drafts in our own listing. Could not confirm at all: North Pole Pub (428 Bergen St), whose only published link is a Facebook page we could not load; Morgan’s Brooklyn Barbecue (267 Flatbush Ave), whose site lists no address, hours or deal; Brooklyn Wing Company (73 St Marks Ave) and Black Oak on Fifth (200 5th Ave), whose sites refused us; and Mo’s Bar & Lounge (80 Lafayette Ave), which has a template listing page and nothing from the bar itself. None of these is confirmed closed — they are off this page until someone can show us the deal.

When does Barclays Center stop serving alcohol?

At basketball games, alcohol sales stop at the beginning of the fourth quarter; at concerts, one hour before the end of the performance, according to the arena’s own A–Z guide. The arena also has a no re-entry policy for every event, so once you are inside, the bars on this page are out of reach until it is over.

Which bar was torn down to build Barclays Center?

Freddy’s Bar, which stood on the corner of Sixth Avenue and Dean Street for more than seventy years before it was torn down in 2010 for the arena project. It reopened at 627 5th Ave in South Slope, where it is open daily from noon to 4am — about a 40-minute walk from the arena, which is why it is not on this page.
