At The Office: The Murray Hill Sports Bar With a Seven-Day Happy Hour

Most Murray Hill happy hours are built for the commuter crowd — Monday to Friday, gone by the weekend. At The Office runs its 4–7pm window every day, at $6 drafts, $8 well cocktails and $9 wines. On a Saturday afternoon in this neighborhood, that is close to a category of one.

It opened in April 2026 on the corner of 38th and Third, in the space El Rio Grande held for four decades. It is not a dive and it does not pretend to be: green leather booths, seven screens, an $18 smash burger, and a terrace shared with The Consulate, the brasserie under the same roof. The honest read is that this is a nice room that happens to show the game, not a bar built around the game. Which is either exactly what you want or exactly what you don’t.

The Happy Hour

Four to seven, seven days a week: draft beer $6, well cocktails $8, select wines $9. Off happy hour, drafts run $7–$12, signature cocktails are $16 and wine by the glass is $12–$14 — so the discount is real, particularly on the cocktails. Weekday doors open at 4pm, which means happy hour starts the moment they open and there is no earlier window to miss. Saturday and Sunday they open at noon, so the 4pm start is a genuine weekend deal rather than a weekday one with weekend hours stapled on.

One thing they don’t publish: whether the pricing applies at the tables or only at the bar. Nothing on their site says either way. If you’re bringing more than two people and the math matters, call ahead on (646) 484-5102. Worth noting that a few aggregators list this as a Monday–Friday 3:30–6:30pm deal — that is wrong, and the venue’s own specials page is the one to trust.

The Room

Big, bright and considerably more polished than the phrase “sports bar” suggests — deep green leather booths, upscale finishes, room for about a hundred inside and as many again outdoors. Seven screens are spread across the room, and the honest caveat is that they are mounted high; more than one person has said the same thing about craning their neck through a match. It also gets loud when it fills. The food goes further than it needs to for the format: a smash burger at $18, Asian-style wings at $16, a $14 ballpark hot dog, and a bites combo at three for $42. It’s on the corner of East 38th and Third, seven or eight minutes’ walk south of Grand Central, which makes it a practical stop between the terminal and home rather than somewhere you cross town for. Reservations run through OpenTable.

Who At The Office Is For

OccasionWhy It Works
A Saturday afternoon drinkDoors at noon and happy hour from 4pm, when most of the neighborhood’s deals have already clocked off for the week
After work near Grand CentralSeven or eight minutes from the terminal, and the 4pm open means the deal starts the second the door does
A group that wants seatsRoughly 100 covers inside plus the shared terrace, and OpenTable takes the booking — rare for a bar this new
Watching a game, with reservationsSeven screens and a proper kitchen, but the TVs sit high and the room carries sound — go for the room, not the sightlines
