Best Rooftop Bars
NYC

Twenty-seven roofs, every deal checked against the venue’s own menu. Seventeen have one. Ten don’t, and we say so.

Most rooftop happy hours run 4–7pm — 230 Fifth starts at 2pm, LEAF runs seven days.

  • 27 roofs verified
  • 17 with a real deal
  • $5 cheapest beer
  • 64 floors up, highest

The best rooftop bars NYC has right now split into two groups: the seventeen that publish a real happy hour, and the rest, where you are paying $26 for a margarita to stand near a view. The cheapest real deal is The Crown in Chinatown — $6 beer, $10 house wine, $12 spirits and half-price food, Monday to Friday 4 to 6, twenty-one floors up. Hide Rooftop in FiDi runs happy-hour pricing all day at the bar, which nobody else publishes. LEAF in Flushing is the only rooftop in the city with a priced window seven days a week. The highest room is Overstory, sixty-four floors up; the one that still works in February is Upstairs at The Kimberly, under a retractable glass roof. Below: 27 roofs verified in August 2026 — including the fifteen that have closed while other guides keep publishing their happy hours.

The Crown On now

Chinatown roof, indoor lounge plus two terraces · 50 Bowery, 21st fl $$$
$6 beer, $10 wine, $12 spirits, half-price foodMon–Fri 4–6pm
Happy hourMon–Fri 4–6pm

We had this one wrong, so let’s fix it loudly: The Crown publishes a Sunset Happy Hour, and it is the cheapest real deal on any rooftop in this city. Six-dollar beer, $10 house wine, $12 house spirits, and half off the food — hoisin wings, margherita flatbread, bao buns, charred cauliflower — twenty-one floors above the Bowery, Monday to Friday 4 to 6. Nobody else here gets you a drink and something to eat for under $20 with a skyline in front of you. The honest caveat: their own site publishes no hours at all, and five sources disagree about whether they open Monday. The happy hour says Mon–Fri. Call before you build the night around it.

Hide Rooftop On now

FiDi, in through the Artezen lobby · 24 John St, 20th fl $$$
Happy-hour pricing all day at the bar$7 beer, $10 wine, $12 margarita
Happy hourMon–Fri 4–6pm at tables

The move nobody publishes: Hide’s happy-hour pricing runs all day at the bar. Not 4 to 6 — all day. Their own menu says it in capital letters and every list covering this place somehow leaves it out. So: $7 canned beer, $10 house wine, $12 margarita, $10 fries or boneless wings, $12 margherita pizza, five beers in a bucket for $30, from the moment they open. At a table you get the window instead — Mon–Wed 4 to 7, Thu–Fri 4 to 6. Twenty floors up in FiDi. Closed Sundays. One correction worth having: the hotel’s page says the deal is weekdays 4 to 6. The bar’s own page is the one that’s right.

230 Fifth On now

Enormous, loud, tourist-heavy, cheap · 1150 Broadway (enter on Broadway) $$$
$7 beer, $8 wine, $9 well cocktails, $12 frozenMon–Fri 2–4pm
Happy hourMon–Fri 2–4pm

The earliest happy hour on this page starts at 2pm, which tells you what 230 Fifth is: a big, loud, tourist-heavy roof that is genuinely good value if you beat the line. $7 beer, $8 wine, $9 well cocktails, $12 frozen margarita or frosé served in a drink bag, five Coronas in a bucket for $35. Two notes that save money and confusion. One: the entrance is 1150 Broadway, not 230 Fifth Avenue — same building, wrong door on most listings, including ours until today. Two: there is a $15 cover Friday and Saturday from 8pm. Come on a Tuesday at 2 and none of that applies.

Mr. Purple On now

Rooftop pool bar over the LES · 180 Orchard St $$$
$11 cocktails and wine, $6 foodMon–Fri 4–7pm
Happy hourMon–Fri 4–7pm

Eleven dollars gets you an Aperol spritz, a Chandon garden spritz, a Suze white negroni or a glass of wine. Six dollars gets you actual food — grilled cheese, pretzel bites, franks in blankets, chips and guac. Monday to Friday, 4 to 7. Three full hours, no bar-only asterisk, next to a rooftop pool on the Lower East Side. That is one of the better value-per-hour ratios in Manhattan. The caveat is arithmetic, not attitude: 20% gratuity goes on any party of six or more, so a big group’s $11 spritz stops being $11. Go with three people and it holds.

The Ready Cantina On now

Retractable glass roof, taco cantina · 112 E 11th St $$$
$1 tacos, $6 beers4–7pm
Happy hourTue–Fri 4–7pm

Dollar tacos on a rooftop with a fully retractable glass roof, which means this one still works in February. Chicken tinga or veggie, a buck each, with $6 beers, 4 to 7. It used to be The Ready Rooftop Bar; it reopened as a cantina and the taco is the reason to care. Two honest flags. The margarita price is a mess — three sources, three numbers — so we are not printing one until someone picks up the phone. And two 2026 sources say they are closed Mondays, which is hard to square with a Mon–Fri happy hour, so we have set the window Tue–Fri. Monday is at your own risk.

Castell Terrace On now

Covered all-season terrace with a real fireplace · 260 W 40th St, 21st fl $$$
$12 cocktails, $10 wine, $6 beerMon–Fri 4–6pm
Happy hourMon–Fri 4–6pm

Castell Rooftop Lounge is now Castell Terrace — same 21st floor above the AC Hotel, new name, and a happy hour priced on their own site: $12 cocktails, $10 wines, $6 beer, Monday to Friday 4 to 6. What puts it above the other Midtown roofs is the build. It is a covered, all-season terrace with a working fireplace, so it holds up in November when half this list turns into a wind tunnel. Two caveats: 21+, and the roof gets closed for private events with no warning on the website. That is a two-minute call, and it will save you a walk from Port Authority.

Broken Shaker On now

Plant-covered roof at the Freehand · 23 Lexington Ave, 18th fl $$$
$6 Tecate (add a $6 shot), $13 cocktails, $10 wineTue–Sat 4–6pm
Happy hourTue–Sat 4–6pm

The cheapest beer-and-a-shot on any rooftop in New York: $6 Tecate, add $6 for Gran Centenario or Jack. Twelve dollars for a combination most Manhattan roofs would charge you $28 for, eighteen floors up at the Freehand. Cocktails are $13 — the daily punch, a classic margarita, the Thyme Is Moné — plus $6 fries, $9 guac, $10 fish taco, $12 crispy rice. Their own site says three different things about the days; the only version that survives contact with their hours is Tuesday to Saturday, because they are closed Sunday and Monday. 21+ after 6pm, kitchen shuts at 10.

Higher up, and priced like it

The tall ones. The deals are smaller and the doors are stricter, but the windows are real. See also the best hotel bars in NYC.

The Fleur Room On now

Glass-enclosed, 360 degrees, 35 floors up · 105 W 28th St, 35th fl $$$
$9 mini martinis, $9 bites, $23 flight of threeTue–Fri 5–8pm
Happy hourTue–Fri 5–8pm

Three hours is the longest happy-hour window on this page, and a $9 martini thirty-five floors up in a glass-enclosed room is a good trade even when it is a mini. Espresso, dirty, cosmo, or a non-alcoholic peach; $23 gets a flight of three, which is the order. Bites are $9. Glass-enclosed means it works year-round, and it is 21+. One thing to know before you commit: the hotel’s own dining page says the Fleur Room runs Wednesday to Saturday from 9pm, which cannot both be true alongside a Tuesday 5pm happy hour. The booking channel says Tue–Fri. We would call.

Magic Hour On now

All-season, enormous, carousel and all · 485 7th Ave, 18th fl $$$
$6 Estrella, $8 wine, $10 spritzesTerrace bars only
Happy hourMon–Fri 5–6:30pm

A $6 beer in Times Square is not nothing, and Magic Hour is the rare roof up here that is not a straight tourist tax. Ninety minutes, Monday to Friday: $6 Estrella, $8 house wine, $10 spritzes. The detail every other list gets wrong, including us until now, is that it is not simply ‘bar only’ — it is the East and West Terrace bars specifically. Sit anywhere else and you pay full freight. The room is all-season and genuinely huge. The fine print is real: 21+ except weekend brunch, a physical ID, a 90-minute table block, and $30 if you no-show a reservation.

Upstairs at The Kimberly On now

Retractable glass roof, 31 floors up · 145 E 50th St, penthouse $$$
$15 specialty cocktails, $13 mixed drinks, $12 plates3 plates for $30
Happy hourMon–Fri 4–6:30pm

The best all-weather rooftop in Midtown, and it is not close: a fully retractable glass roof thirty-one floors up, with a fireplace and heat for the outdoor seats. Golden Hour runs Monday to Friday 4 to 6:30 — $15 specialty cocktails, $13 mixed drinks, $12 small plates or any three for $30. Three plates and two drinks is a real dinner for under $60 with a Chrysler Building view, which is not a sentence you often get to write in this zip code. 21+ after 4pm. Book it — the room is smaller than the view makes it sound.

Somewhere Nowhere On now

Pool on 39, lounge on 38, strict door · 112 W 25th St, 38th and 39th fl $$$
$12 martinis (Martini Power Hour)5–7pm
Happy hourThu–Fri 5–7pm

Martini Power Hour, $12, 5 to 7, thirty-eight floors up with a pool on 39. That part is solid. The days are not: their martini page says Wed–Fri, the meta on that same page says Wed–Sat, and the homepage says Thursday and Friday. We have encoded only the two days all three agree on. We have also pulled the ‘$20 after 7pm’ line we used to publish, because it is not sourced anywhere — not on their site, not off it. Know before you go: 21+ with a real ID, a strict no-shorts-no-tank-tops door, and a $50-per-person no-show fee on rooftop reservations.

Ophelia On now

1928 Art Deco tower, Beekman Place · 3 Mitchell Place, 26th fl $$$
$14 wine, $15 French 75 or Manhattan, $10 bitesAt the bar only
Happy hourMon–Fri 5–7pm

Ten dollars for million-layer crispy potato bites with caviar, at a bar, twenty-six floors up a 1928 Art Deco tower. Social Hour runs Monday to Friday 5 to 7: $14 wine, $15 French 75 or Manhattan, $10 bites including mini lobster tacos and tuna tartare spoons, and a $30 flight of three mini cocktails. It is bar only and they say so plainly on the menu, which we appreciate. The timing quirk that matters: Ophelia does not open until 5pm, so Social Hour is literally the first two hours of the night. Get there at 5 and the room is yours.

Monarch Rooftop On now

Empire State in the window, heated terrace Oct–May · 71 W 35th St, 18th fl $$$
$10 sangria and margaritas (Mondays)$12 martinis Wed–Thu late
Happy hourMondays 2–5pm

Read the days before you go, because Monarch’s specials are shaped nothing like a normal happy hour. Monday afternoons, 2 to 5: $10 house sangria and $10 house margarita. Wednesday and Thursday from 10pm: $12 French, cosmo, lemon drop and apple martinis, $8 kamikaze shots. Sunday, Monday and Tuesday after 10pm it is half-price bottle service. There is no Thursday-at-five deal here, so do not show up expecting one. Open 365 days, with an enclosed terrace heated October through May. The door is strict — physical ID, no sneakers, no tank tops — plus a two-hour table limit.

Brooklyn and Queens

Where the skyline is the view rather than the ceiling — and where the only seven-day rooftop deal in the city lives. More across the river in Williamsburg and Long Island City.

Bar Blondeau On now

Floor-to-ceiling glass at the Wythe · 80 Wythe Ave, 6th fl, Williamsburg $$$
$11 cocktails (Sunset Hour)Roughly half off
Happy hourMon–Fri 5–7pm

Eleven-dollar cocktails at the best-looking sunset in Brooklyn. Bar Blondeau sits on the sixth floor of the Wythe with floor-to-ceiling glass pointed straight at the Manhattan skyline, and off-deal those cocktails run $19 to $23 — so Sunset Hour is close to half price. It is at the bar. Two honest notes: the $9 wine we used to publish appears in no source we can find, first-party or otherwise, so it is gone. And while two 2026 write-ups confirm the 5-to-7 window and the $11, the only source that ever named the days is from December 2024. Weeknights are the safe bet.

LEAF Bar & Lounge On now

Hyatt Place roof over downtown Flushing · 133-42 39th Ave, Flushing $$$
$9 cocktails, $8 wine, $5 beerEvery day 5–7pm
Happy hourDaily 5–7pm

The only rooftop in New York City with a priced happy hour seven days a week, and it is in Flushing. Five to seven, every single day: $9 cocktails — the Toki highballs, a strawberry margarita, a strawberry mezcal martini — $8 wine, $5 beer. Off-deal those cocktails are $18, so this is a genuine halving and not a two-dollars-off gesture. On a Sunday, when most of this list has nothing running at all, it is the best rooftop deal in the five boroughs. It is the roof of the Hyatt Place, open till 1am on weeknights and 2am on weekends. The dress code is real.

Vacations On now

Wraparound roof, checkered stone, tiki leanings · 48 Cypress Ave, Bushwick $$$
$2 off everythingTue–Fri 5–7pm
Happy hourTue–Fri 5–7pm

Two dollars off everything, Tuesday to Friday 5 to 7 — that is the whole deal, stated in exactly those words on their own site, and there is something refreshing about a bar that does not dress it up. It is a 5,000-square-foot patio in Bushwick with a 2,000-square-foot wraparound roof, checkered stone underfoot and a skyline you have to work a little to see. Closed Mondays. We cannot print a dollar figure because they publish no base prices — but Bushwick base prices are Bushwick base prices, and $2 off them lands well under anything on this page west of the river.

Cherry On Top On now

Seasonal roof, year-round bar · 379 Suydam St, Bushwick $$$
Happy hour seven days a weekWeekends 2–5pm
Happy hourMon–Fri 5–7pm

A seven-day happy hour is rare anywhere and close to unheard of on a roof: 5 to 7 Monday through Friday, and 2 to 5 on Saturday and Sunday. That weekend afternoon window is the one worth circling — it is the only rooftop on this page running a deal at 3pm on a Saturday. The bar is open year-round; the roof is seasonal, and it is open now. We are not printing a price: the only figure out there is a $9 pour from a magazine, and their own site does not confirm it. Go for the window and ask at the bar.

Westlight

22 floors up the William Vale, heated terrace · 111 N 12th St, 22nd fl, Williamsburg $$$
No happy hour — cocktails $22–$25Terrace heated all winter
Happy hourDaily no happy hour

Twenty-two floors up at the William Vale, the best straight-on view in Brooklyn, and no happy hour — we checked every menu they publish. Cocktails run $22 to $25, with a $42 Skyline Ritual Martini for anyone settling a bet. Worth knowing what we had wrong: our old $19 low end was actually their spirit-free price. What earns Westlight a place here anyway is the terrace, which is heated and covered and runs all winter, plus a Winter Village pop-up with chalets and an après-ski bar. 21+ from 6pm daily. Go at 5:30 in January and you will have the warmest view in the borough.

Kimoto Rooftop

Heated garden lounge above the Sheraton · 228 Duffield St, Downtown Brooklyn $$$
No happy hour we can sourceHeated, year-round
Happy hourDaily no published happy hour

A heated outdoor terrace above the Sheraton that runs year-round, which is the whole argument for it in a city where most roofs are a four-month business. No happy hour: Time Out publishes one — $5 Sapporo, $7 wines, $8 wells — and it appears nowhere on Kimoto’s own site, which currently 404s its menu page entirely. We are not repeating a number we cannot source. Go for the garden-lounge room and the Downtown Brooklyn angle on the bridges. If the deal is real, they answer the phone, and we would genuinely like to publish it.

Harriet’s Rooftop

The postcard view, priced accordingly · 60 Furman St, 11th fl, Dumbo $$$
No happy hour — cocktails $26–$31Weather permitting
Happy hourDaily no happy hour

The most photographed view in Brooklyn and the priciest drinks on this page: $26 for the house margarita, $28 for a Purple Haze, $29 espresso martini, $31 for the frozen watermelon. No happy hour. Two things we had wrong and are fixing here. Our old hours belonged to Harriet’s Lounge, the indoor room one floor below — the rooftop is the eleventh and opens at noon Monday to Thursday, 11am Friday to Sunday, weather permitting. And if you search ‘Harriet’s happy hour’ you will find one: it is the West Hollywood location. Different coast, different menu, does not apply here.

Lost in Paradise

Fully enclosed and heated, open all season · 11-01 43rd Ave, Long Island City $$$
No drink happy hour — $4 tacos Tuesdays5–10pm
Happy hourTue–Sun no drink happy hour

The cold-weather answer in Queens: the roof is fully enclosed and heated and stays open all season, which they say plainly on their own site. There is no discounted-drink happy hour — cocktails are $18 to $22 and you are paying for the view, so let us be honest about that — but Taco Tuesday is real, $4 tacos from 5 to 10 with a 90-minute seat. Closed Mondays. Enter through the Z Hotel lobby, not the Ravel; they are different buildings and people get this wrong constantly. Friday and Saturday it runs till 4am, which is its own kind of amenity.

Vista Sky Lounge

Retractable roof, Midtown skyline from the east · 27-05 39th Ave, Long Island City $$$
No happy hour publishedDaily from 4pm
Happy hourDaily no published happy hour

A 3,000-square-foot terrace with a retractable roof and one of the better Midtown-skyline angles from Queens, open at 4pm daily and till 1am on weekends. We are correcting ourselves here: we used to say a happy hour was advertised without published times. It is not advertised at all — the phrase appears nowhere on their site, their menus, or their booking page. The hotel name we had was stale too; it is the Vista LIC now, not the Four Points. One thing to expect: diners repeatedly report an automatic 20% service charge, so read the check before you tip on top of it.

No happy hour, still worth the elevator

No deal, no pretending there is one. These earn the trip on the room alone — and each card tells you what it will actually cost. More in best bars in NYC.

Overstory

64 floors up the crown of 70 Pine · 70 Pine St, 64th fl $$$
No happy hour — $75pp minimum on reservationsWalk-ins have no minimum
Happy hourDaily no happy hour

Sixty-four floors up in the Art Deco crown of 70 Pine, still the most spectacular room on this list — but 2026 has been rough. It fell from No.6 to No.33 on North America’s 50 Best Bars, the steepest drop of any New York bar this year, and Harrison Ginsberg, who built the drinks program over eight years, left in August with no successor named. The number that will actually change your night: the $75 per-person food-and-beverage minimum applies to reservations, not walk-ins. So walk in. Parties are capped at six, it is 21+, no tank tops, and they hold a booking fifteen minutes.

Bar 54

The highest hotel rooftop bar in New York · 135 W 45th St, 54th fl $$$
No happy hourCome for one drink
Happy hourDaily no happy hour

Fifty-four floors up, the highest hotel rooftop bar in New York, and no happy hour — roughly what you would expect at that altitude. It earns a place here because the height is not a marketing claim, it is a fact, and on a clear evening the sightline down the Hudson is worth the price of one drink. Come for exactly one drink. That is the whole strategy: go up, take the view, then go somewhere with a deal. Magic Hour is nine blocks south and has $6 Estrella until 6:30.

Refinery Rooftop

Retractable glass roof, opens to the sky · 63 W 38th St $$$
No happy hour — cocktails $18–$22Year-round
Happy hourDaily no happy hour

A retractable glass roof and an openable enclosure, which is the useful part: this one works in weather. No happy hour — the ones you will find online are a 2018 wear-a-hat promo and a listings site that now returns ‘bar not found.’ Cocktails run $18 to $22, drafts $11 to $12. We were also publishing ‘mains $25 to $50,’ which was wrong; food is $18 to $27 apart from a $70 cowboy steak. It is 21+ in the evening with ID, and their own booking page says reservations are ‘subject to the Maitre D’s discretion’ — a polite way of saying a confirmation is not a seat.

Cantina Rooftop

Retractable glass ceiling, big enough for a group · 605 W 48th St, Hell’s Kitchen $$$
No happy hour — $25 Taco Tuesday, $30 marg flight$25 bottomless brunch
Happy hourDaily no happy hour

No happy hour, but three weekly deals they publish with actual prices, which is more than most of this page manages: a $30 margarita flight on Mondays, $25 Taco Tuesday, and a $25 bottomless brunch Saturday and Sunday from noon to 3. The roof has a retractable glass ceiling so it runs year-round, and it is big enough to absorb a group without a reservation war. Open till 3am Friday and Saturday. If you want a rooftop where eight people can eat and drink for a fixed number instead of a surprise, this is the one on this list.

RH Rooftop

Glass conservatory, olive trees, chandeliers · 9 Ninth Ave, Meatpacking $$$
No happy hour — no published pricesCloses at 10pm
Happy hourDaily no happy hour

A glass-and-steel conservatory full of olive trees and chandeliers on top of a furniture store, and genuinely one of the prettiest rooms in New York. Two corrections we owe you. The address is 9 Ninth Avenue, the RH gallery — not 55 Gansevoort, which is the RH Guesthouse, a different building with a different restaurant, and where we were sending you until today. And it does not run late: every source caps it at 10pm, so ‘lunch through late’ was ours to fix. No happy hour, and RH publishes no prices anywhere. Reservations are bookable now, parties capped at six.

Rooftop bars in NYC: FAQ

What are the best rooftop bars in NYC right now?

For value, The Crown in Chinatown: $6 beer, $10 house wine, $12 spirits and half-price food, Monday to Friday 4–6pm, twenty-one floors up. For the view, Overstory on the 64th floor of 70 Pine Street. For any day of the week, LEAF in Flushing runs $9 cocktails, $8 wine and $5 beer daily from 5 to 7pm. For winter, Upstairs at The Kimberly has a fully retractable glass roof and a $13 mixed-drink happy hour.

Which NYC rooftop bars have a real happy hour?

Seventeen of the twenty-seven on this page publish one. The strongest priced windows are The Crown (Mon–Fri 4–6pm), Hide Rooftop (happy-hour pricing all day at the bar), 230 Fifth (Mon–Fri 2–4pm), Mr. Purple (Mon–Fri 4–7pm), Broken Shaker (Tue–Sat 4–6pm) and LEAF in Flushing (daily 5–7pm). The other ten publish no deal at all, and each card says so.

Where can I get a cheap drink on a NYC rooftop?

The $5 beer at LEAF in Flushing is the cheapest on this page. Six dollars gets you a beer at The Crown, Castell Terrace or Magic Hour, or a Tecate at Broken Shaker, where another $6 adds a shot of tequila or whiskey. Hide Rooftop in FiDi is the outlier worth knowing: its happy-hour prices run all day at the bar, not just during the window.

Which NYC rooftop bars are open in winter?

The ones with a retractable or enclosed roof: Upstairs at The Kimberly, Refinery Rooftop, The Ready Cantina, Cantina Rooftop, Vista Sky Lounge, and Lost in Paradise in Long Island City, which is fully enclosed and heated. The Fleur Room is glass-enclosed. Castell Terrace is a covered all-season terrace with a fireplace, Magic Hour is built for all seasons, Monarch heats its terrace October through May, and Westlight and Kimoto both heat their outdoor terraces year-round.

What time do NYC rooftop happy hours start?

Most run between 4 and 7pm. The earliest is 230 Fifth at 2pm Monday to Friday; Monarch’s Monday deal also starts at 2. The latest is Monarch’s $12 martini night, Wednesday and Thursday from 10pm. Hide Rooftop’s bar pricing runs all day. LEAF and Cherry On Top are the only two with weekend windows.

Which NYC rooftop bars have closed?

More than most guides admit. No longer operating as public rooftop bars: Penthouse808 at the Ravel in Long Island City (private events only since 2021), Gallow Green at the McKittrick, The Press Lounge at Ink48, Loopy Doopy at the Conrad, Sky Room, VU Rooftop, VU 46, The Attic, Hudson Terrace, both Rare View locations, Rooftop Reds in the Brooklyn Navy Yard, Our Wicked Lady, Summerly at the Hoxton, and the McCarren Hotel pool bar. Several rooftop happy hour guides still publish full deals for Sky Room, VU 46, Hudson Terrace and McCarren.
