The two real happy hours in Flushing are Leaf Bar & Lounge, where beer is $5 and cocktails are $9 every day from 5 to 7 on the Hyatt Place roof, and Moon Bar, buy-one-get-one on select drinks daily 5–8pm. That’s it for posted drink discounts in the whole neighborhood, and both are hotel rooftops — installed on top of Flushing rather than grown out of it. The neighborhood does discount, though. It discounts food, at Gao’s from the minute the door opens, and it stays open until two in the morning at Izakaya Nana because nobody here is eating at six. Everything below is within a few stops of Flushing–Main St on the 7. We’ve grouped it by what’s actually posted, what’s just open late, and where the neighborhood really eats.

The posted deals
Four rooms with an actual happy hour — two with published prices, two without, and we say which is which. More rooftops in our best rooftop bars in NYC guide.
Leaf Bar & Lounge On now
The best happy hour in Flushing, and it isn’t close. Every day, 5–7pm, on the roof of the Hyatt Place: five-dollar beer — Amstel Light, Blue Moon, Coors Light, Corona, and all three Heinekens — eight-dollar Pinot Grigio rosé or Merlot, and nine dollars for a Toki highball, a strawberry margarita, or a strawberry mezcal martini. Sangria’s $9 a glass or $50 the pitcher. The local move: the sangria pitcher is the only item on the list that scales, so bring three people and let someone else do the math. The honest caveat: the entrance is through a hotel, which is why half of Flushing doesn’t know it’s up there. Ignore the internet’s talk of $5 shots and a per-person minimum — neither is on the menu, and the minimum traces to one review from 2021.
Moon Bar Rooftop On now
Three hours, seven days — the longest posted window in the neighborhood. Buy one, get one, though note the venue’s own wording is select drinks, not the whole list, so ask what’s in before you commit. The food calendar is where this room actually earns it: Monday a $9 burger, Monday through Wednesday $8 wings and fries inside the happy hour, Wednesday steak or fish and chips for $21.99 with a house cocktail thrown in and $7 wings running all night, Thursday tacos and a flavored margarita for $19.99. The verdict: Wednesday is the night. The caveat: promotions can’t be combined and don’t run during private events, and the roof is the 9th floor while the main lounge is the 8th — if the weather’s bad you’re inside either way.
Gao’s BBQ & Crab On now
The closest deal to the turnstile in all of Flushing — under 500 feet from the 7 at Main St, which is roughly three minutes if you don’t get stuck behind the fruit stand. Gao’s own site says happy hour runs from open until 6:30pm every day, and because they open at 4pm on weekdays and noon on Saturday and Sunday, the weekend version is six and a half hours long. The honest caveat, and it’s a real one: they publish the window but not the prices. The charcoal lamb skewer is $4.50 on the regular menu and a long line of food creators say it drops to a dollar during the window — we could not get that confirmed by the restaurant, so treat it as a very well-attested rumor and read the board on the way in.

The Attic
Downtown Flushing’s nicest room for a drink, up a staircase off 37th Ave, and the one entry on this page we’ve had to walk back. Every listing in the city says dollar oysters weekdays from 5 to 7. We went looking for a source and there isn’t one: the venue publishes no happy hour menu, the two figures floating around are $1 and $1.50, and the more recent of the two says $1.50. Their own site says doors at 5pm; four other listings say 4pm. So we’re printing the room and not the price. It’s still a good bar — oysters, cocktails, soju reductions on the wings — and it’s still cheaper before 7. Call (929) 329-0005 and ask, and if they tell you, tell us.
Late rooms & the hotel bars
No posted deal, but these are the rooms open when Flushing actually goes out. See also our best speakeasies in NYC and best late-night food guides.
IYKYK
We had a Mon–Fri 5–7pm happy hour on this page and it was never possible: IYKYK doesn’t unlock the door until 6pm Sunday through Thursday, and 5:30 on Friday and Saturday. Three aggregators publish three different windows and none of them agree, so we’re not printing one. What is true, from the venue: signature cocktails run $16–$20, oysters are $16 for the raw Long Islanders and $20 grilled, the double smash burger is $22, and the truffle fries are $10. The verdict: a genuinely good late room and the most interesting cocktail list in Flushing, priced like Manhattan. Go here instead if you want the same hour cheaper: Leaf is a nine-minute walk south and everything’s under $12.

Izakaya Nana
On the page because of when it’s open, not what it charges. Noon to 2am, every day, which in a neighborhood that eats at nine is the single most useful set of hours on this list. There was a late-night deal here — buy one get one on draft beer, house sake and oysters, 10pm to 1am — and the venue posted it themselves. That was 2023, and it has since come off their site entirely. We’re not printing a deal we can’t stand behind, but the room is worth the walk regardless, and if you’re the kind of person who eats dinner after a shift this is where to do it. Ask at the bar whether the late window is still running; if it is, it’s the best value in Flushing after ten.

PRIME Mēt Steakhouse & Rooftop Lounge
Inside the Renaissance at Tangram, and the reason to know about it is the whiskey bar: proper flights, Japanese alongside Scotch and bourbon, in a room with floor-to-ceiling glass. There is no happy hour and we’d rather say so than let a booking site’s stray “happy hour” tag turn into a deal that doesn’t exist. The verdict: this is a special-occasion room, not a Tuesday, and it’s the only place in Flushing pouring whiskey at that level. One thing to sort out before you go: the hotel lists the whiskey bar in the lobby and the restaurant lists it on the 12th floor. Call (718) 898-6666 and ask which elevator.

Korean BBQ, soju & the food hall
Where the neighborhood eats. No Western happy hour and no pretending otherwise — the value here is the split bill, not the discount. More in our best Korean restaurants in NYC guide.
Sonamu House
Grill-and-soju, open ten in the morning until midnight, at the eastern end of the Northern Blvd restaurant strip where the rents drop and the tables get bigger. No happy hour, no lunch special, nothing published — this is à la carte and the cuts are priced accordingly, with the galbi and the bossam around $40 and a two-serving pork belly closer to $70. The verdict: not a cheap night, but the reason it’s on a happy hour page is that a Flushing table of four splitting one grill and a bottle of soju lands somewhere a Manhattan happy hour never gets you. The local move: go late. Midnight close means a 10pm sitting is normal here, not ambitious.
New York K-BBQ
Seven days, two sittings: lunch 11:30am to 2pm, dinner 2pm to 10:30pm, both all-you-can-eat. A correction we owe you: this page used to say roughly $28 at lunch and $45 at dinner. Those numbers came from nowhere — the restaurant publishes hours in detail and prices nowhere at all, and we couldn’t find a current rate on any source we’d stand behind. So the windows stay and the figures go. The local move is still the lunch sitting: at every AYCE Korean BBQ in this city the midday rate is the cheaper one and the meat is the same meat. Call (718) 539-0111 for today’s price before you build an afternoon around it.
Tangram Food Hall
Two corrections first: it’s on the ground floor, not the second, and it runs to 9pm on weekdays, 10pm Friday and Saturday, 8pm Sunday — our old 8:30pm was wrong in both directions. Somewhere between twelve and fifteen stalls depending on the week, including Xi’an Famous Foods, Zaab Zaab, JoJu, Sing Choi Kee and Chip City, and no happy hour anywhere because nothing needs one. The verdict: this is the cheapest way to feed four people in downtown Flushing and it’s ninety seconds from Leaf Bar. Worth knowing: Hoi Polloi, the 24-tap beer hall that opened upstairs in the complex in 2022, has closed and is off the landlord’s own directory. If you came here for the beer hall, it’s gone.
Flushing happy hour: FAQ
Does Flushing have happy hours?
Two with published prices: Leaf Bar & Lounge on the Hyatt Place roof ($5 beer, $8 wine, $9 cocktails, daily 5–7pm) and Moon Bar on Northern Blvd (buy one get one on select drinks, daily 5–8pm). Gao’s BBQ & Crab runs a food happy hour from open until 6:30pm daily but doesn’t publish prices. Beyond those three, Flushing discounts by the table rather than by the hour.
What’s the best rooftop bar in Flushing?
Leaf Bar & Lounge, on the roof of the Hyatt Place at 133-42 39th Ave — it has the only posted rooftop happy hour with real prices, every day 5–7pm. Moon Bar at 137-72 Northern Blvd has the longer window and the bigger skyline view across two floors, and PRIME Mēt at the Renaissance has the whiskey list, but neither publishes happy hour pricing.
Where’s the closest happy hour to the 7 train?
Gao’s BBQ & Crab at 136-72 Roosevelt Ave, under 500 feet from the Flushing–Main St station. Its happy hour runs from open until 6:30pm every day, which means 4pm on weekdays and noon on Saturday and Sunday. Leaf Bar and Tangram Food Hall are both about a ten-minute walk west.
What time does Flushing actually go out?
Later than Manhattan. Izakaya Nana runs until 2am daily, IYKYK until 2am Friday and Saturday, Leaf Bar and Moon Bar until 1am on weeknights and 2am on weekends, and Sonamu House serves Korean BBQ until midnight. A 5pm happy hour in Flushing is aimed at a commuter, not a local.
Is it Flushing, Murray Hill, or Fresh Meadows?
Downtown Flushing is the grid around Main St and Roosevelt Ave (11354). Murray Hill is east of Parsons Blvd around the LIRR station — that’s where the Korean food alley known as 먹자골목 (Mukja Golmok) is. Fresh Meadows (11365) is another two miles southeast with no subway at all. Bars filed under “Flushing” by the post office are often a half-hour walk from the 7.
