Ci Siamo is Danny Meyer’s live-fire Italian inside the Manhattan West development — housemade pasta, a wood-burning hearth, and Empire State views. It’s a special-occasion restaurant, not a happy-hour deal, though the bar runs a weekday aperitivo.

The honest version: Ci Siamo is a Union Square Hospitality Group fine-dining restaurant, so there’s no cheap happy hour here. The closest thing is the weekday aperitivo at the bar, 3–5pm (Monday–Thursday) — Negronis, spritzes, and martinis with snacks like the mortadella-and-pistachio, gnocco fritto, and pizza bianca, between lunch and dinner. It’s a lovely way to drink at a great room without booking a full dinner, but it’s an aperitivo, not a discounted deal.

Ci Siamo: Danny Meyer’s Live-Fire Italian in Manhattan West

Ci Siamo is the Italian centerpiece of the Manhattan West development — Danny Meyer and Union Square Hospitality Group, chef Hillary Sterling, a wood-burning hearth, and floor-to-ceiling Empire State views. It’s a special-occasion restaurant, not a happy hour, and we’ll be straight about that — though the bar does run a weekday aperitivo if you want to drink here without a full dinner.

About Ci Siamo

Opened in 2021 as USHG’s first post-pandemic NYC restaurant, Ci Siamo (“here we are”) centers on live-fire cooking and housemade pasta under chef Hillary Sterling, with a robust Italian wine list and the polished, warm service the group is known for. The Michelin Guide calls it effortlessly likable; Yelp named it the #1 restaurant in the U.S. in 2026. The space — terra cotta, tile, an open kitchen, a third-floor terrace — is built around the hearth.

What to Expect

This is upscale, special-occasion Italian — not a happy-hour spot. A few honest notes:

  • No discounted happy hour — it’s a fine-dining room; expect dinner prices
  • Weekday aperitivo, 3–5pm (Mon–Thu) at the bar — Negronis, spritzes, martinis, and snacks between lunch and dinner
  • Reservations book fast, especially weekend dinner; the bar and aperitivo are the easier walk-in

What to Order

The caramelized onion torta is the signature — melting onions, two pecorinos, finished in the wood oven — and worth the trip on its own. The housemade pastas (the rabbit pasta has a following) and the focaccia are the core; the lemon torta with mascarpone closes it out. At aperitivo, the mortoni (Campari, vodka, citrus, tonic) with gnocco fritto and pizza bianca is the move.

The Space & Vibe

Sleek but warm — a handsome bar, an open kitchen with the hearth as the focal point, big windows, and a third-floor terrace with Empire State views. It runs busy and a little loud on weekend nights, with a celebration-dinner and business-dinner crowd. The terrace and bar are the more relaxed perches; the dining room is the event.

The Manhattan West Angle

440 West 33rd Street, Suite 100, tucked inside the Manhattan West development near Hudson Yards and Penn Station — not technically Chelsea, despite some listings. A/C/E and LIRR at 34th–Penn are closest, with the 7 at 34th–Hudson Yards a short walk. It’s an easy pre-show or pre-game stop near Madison Square Garden.
