Tacombi Happy Hour: $9 Margaritas and Buy-One-Get-One Taco Tuesdays

Tacombi is the beachy Yucatán-style taqueria on East 70th, part of the mini-chain that started as a VW bus slinging tacos on a Mexican beach. The happy hour is the same honest set citywide — $5 beers, $9 margaritas, $5 micheladas — and Taco Tuesday means buy-one-get-one on every taco, all day.

Monday–Friday 4–6 PM (plus all-day Taco Tuesday)

$5 beers, $5 micheladas, $9 margaritas, $9 Sandia Santas (watermelon-tequila); Taco Tuesday is buy-one-get-one-free on every taco, all day

About Tacombi

Tacombi started in 2006 as a converted Volkswagen Combi van slinging tacos on the beach in Playa del Carmen, and grew into eight-plus NYC taquerias plus a tortillería that supplies Whole Foods. The UES location sits inside the Fairfax development on East 70th, with the brand’s signature retro-Yucatán energy — string lights, tile floors, paper order pads you fill out with a pencil, and that unmistakable Tacombi-yellow signage.

The taco flavors draw on trips through Mexico’s states, the aguas frescas and micheladas are made in-house, and the whole thing is built to be a casual, communal taco-and-margarita hang rather than a fussy sit-down.

The Happy Hour in Detail

Every NYC Tacombi runs the same happy hour: Monday–Friday, 4–6 PM, with $5 beers, $5 micheladas (Tecate, lime, salt, hot sauce — the proper version), $9 margaritas, and $9 Sandia Santas, the watermelon-tequila house cocktail. There’s no separate happy-hour food menu, which is fine because the regular tacos already run $5–$8. Two tacos and two drinks and you’re out the door around $30.

Then there’s Taco Tuesday — buy-one-get-one-free on every taco on the menu, all day, no window. That’s the best-value day of the week here.

What to Order

Get the barbacoa — it’s the move — and a $9 margarita or a Sandia Santa. The micheladas are the real, properly built version, and a side of guac rounds it out. On Taco Tuesday, order wide: the BOGO applies to the whole taco menu, so it’s the day to try the ones you’ve been curious about.

The Space & Vibe

Bright, casual, and family-friendly, with table service and a steady neighborhood crowd. It works as a quick weekday lunch, a low-stakes happy hour, a group dinner where everyone grabs three tacos, or a Taco Tuesday run. The vibe is beach-shack-meets-UES, which is more fun than it has any right to be on the Upper East Side.
