The Honey Well runs two happy hours: daily 4–6pm ($11 classic cocktails, $1.50 deviled eggs, $10 cocktail meatballs, $12 cajun shrimp) and a late-night window Friday–Saturday, midnight–2am. Regular cocktails average around $14, so the $11 happy-hour pour is a real saving.

The Honey Well: A Retro-Cool West Harlem Cocktail Den

The Honey Well is a ’70s-styled basement cocktail bar at 3604 Broadway, at West 148th Street — wood paneling, beaded curtains, amber lighting, retro funk, and a deliberate “grandparents’ rec room” joke that lands. Established in 2017, it’s the low-key sister to Harlem Public (two doors down) and At the Wallace, and its cocktail program is widely rated one of the best uptown.

It’s a neighborhood bar first and a destination second — the kind of place that’s easy to settle into for a daily happy hour or a late Friday night.

The Happy Hour

Two posted windows, which is unusually generous:

  • Daily, 4–6pm — $11 classic cocktails, $1.50 deviled eggs, $10 cocktail meatballs, $12 cajun shrimp
  • Late night, Friday–Saturday, midnight–2am
  • The math — regular cocktails run about $14, so $11 is a genuine deal on a strong program
  • Backyard garden open in warm weather (no heaters, per DOB rules)

The Cocktails

Genuinely excellent and very photogenic. The rum-and-whole-egg Disco Inferno gets torched cocoa butter on top; there’s an off-menu lava-lamp tipple, Spanish-porron pours straight into your mouth if you ask, and the citrusy rum Dave’s Lookin’ Ass. The menu is sizeable, and the bartenders are happy to build something off-menu if you tell them what you’re after.

The Food

Small bites “inspired by Mom’s best entertaining dishes” — deviled eggs, cocktail meatballs, cajun shrimp, cheese balls — with options for pescatarians, vegans, and sweet tooths. The kitchen runs until 11:30pm on weekends.

The Room

A cozy basement in full ’70s rec-room kitsch, all amber light and funk, with a backyard garden for warm nights. Reservations are available via Resy. It sits right on the Frederick Douglass Boulevard bar strip, near the Apollo, and a few doors from its sister bars.
