Happy Hour at The Wicked Monk
The Wicked Monk is a Bay Ridge institution built, quite literally, from salvaged Ireland: the owners shipped over the wood bar, pews, a pulpit and stained glass from a Cork monastery chapel to create its old-world Gothic interior. Open since the mid-1990s, it bills itself as the only bar in Bay Ridge with a proper stage for live music.
It works as a lively neighborhood pub, a live-music room and a party venue all at once, with two dozen-plus drafts, a full bar and a kitchen turning out Irish and American plates. Come for the bands and trivia nights, the sports on the screens, and one of the more distinctive rooms in the borough.
What to Expect
The Wicked Monk does not currently advertise a standing happy hour, and reliable listings note no fixed drink specials, so we are not going to invent one. The real value is the live music, the 24-plus taps and the atmosphere. If you are chasing a deal, call ahead to (347) 497-5152 to ask about any current specials before you go.
The Room
The interior is the headline: a dark, church-salvaged Gothic space with an original carved wood bar, monastery pews, a pulpit and stained glass brought over from Cork. A dedicated stage anchors the live-music nights, and screens around the room cover the games.
