Blue Ribbon Brasserie
The Verdict: the industry’s late-night canteen, and the rare spot running a full kitchen — fried chicken, bone marrow, a raw bar — until 4am, seven nights a week. This isn’t bar snacks at 2am; it’s a real dinner whenever your night ends. The Local Move: this is where off-duty cooks and bartenders eat, so roll in after 11pm and order the fried chicken. The Why: SoHo, serious food, genuinely late — almost nobody does all three.
blueribbonrestaurants.com · See our best seafood in NYC
Corner Bistro
The Verdict: a 50-year West Village burger dive grilling its Bistro Burger until 4am Thursday through Saturday, with cheap McSorley’s on tap. Cash only, no frills, exactly right at 2am. The Honest Caveat: it’s cash-only, so hit an ATM first, and the burger is the order — don’t overthink the menu. The Why: it’s the platonic late-night burger dive, unchanged and unbothered.
cornerbistrony.com · See our best burgers in NYC
L’Express
The Verdict: a French bistro near Union Square open till 2am on weeknights and 4am on weekends — steak frites and French onion soup at an hour when that sounds like the best idea you’ve ever had. The Honest Caveat: despite its reputation, it’s not actually 24-hour anymore, so don’t roll up at 5am. The Local Move: onion soup and steak frites, a glass of red, and the feeling of eating like a Parisian at 3am.
Koreatown late-night
Soondubu and KBBQ into the small hours. More in our Koreatown happy hour guide.
BCD Tofu House
The Verdict: Koreatown’s soondubu specialist, bubbling stone pots of soft-tofu stew to 5am on weekends. Order the spicy soft-tofu, crack the raw egg in yourself, and let the banchan pile up. The Honest Caveat: it’s not truly 24-hour — weeknights it closes at 1am — so the 5am thing is a Friday-Saturday move. The Why: hot, restorative, and open late enough to fix a long night.
bcdtofuhouse.com · See our Koreatown happy hours
Kang Ho Dong Baekjeong
The Verdict: K-town’s marquee KBBQ, grilling marinated short rib inside a moat of cheese and egg until 2am on Fridays and Saturdays. The Honest Caveat: a stale ‘closed’ listing shows up online — ignore it; the official site is live and it’s open, but it’s only truly late on weekends (weeknights it’s 11pm). The Local Move: book ahead, order the galbi, and let the staff run the grill for you.

Late slices, falafel & burgers
The grab-and-go end to a night out. More in best pizza in NYC.
Joe’s Pizza
The Verdict: the definitive New York slice, open to 4am on weekends — the 3am folded-slice move on Carmine Street. Plain cheese, about four bucks, eaten standing. The Honest Caveat: there’s a line even at 2am, and seating is theoretical. The Why: after a night out, this is the slice the whole city agrees on.
Artichoke Basille’s Pizza
The Verdict: the latest-closing pizza on this list — 5am, every single night — and the artichoke-spinach slice is rich, creamy drunk-food royalty. One slice is basically a meal. The Local Move: the artichoke slice is the order, but the crispy square is the sleeper. The Why: when it’s 4:30am and you need pizza, Artichoke is often the only serious option still lit up.

Mamoun’s Falafel
The Verdict: a $4–5 falafel sandwich from a Village counter open to around 4am on weekends, and one of the cheapest ways to end a night well. Get it with the famous hot sauce. The Honest Caveat: it’s tiny and cash-friendly, so grab and go. The Why: cheap, fast, late, and better than it needs to be — the platonic 2am falafel.
7th Street Burger
The Verdict: the cult East Village smashburger, open to 3am Friday through Sunday for the weekend munchies. Double smash, crispy edges, fries. The Honest Caveat: the counter is tight and the late hours are weekend-only — weeknights it closes earlier. The Local Move: double smash plus fries, eaten on the walk home. The Why: it’s the smashburger that actually earned the hype, and it’s open when you want it.

24-hour & Chinatown late

Veselka
The Verdict: the East Village’s Ukrainian institution, back to 24 hours on Friday and Saturday nights — the classic 3am pierogi-and-borscht move. Weeknights it closes at midnight, so weekends are the all-nighter. The Local Move: potato pierogi, a bowl of borscht, bottomless coffee, a booth to recover in. The Why: comfort food with 70 years of history, open exactly when you need it most.
Great NY Noodletown
The Verdict: a Cantonese Chinatown classic that’s long been the late-night move for salt-baked squid, roast baby pig and congee — cash only, no reservations, no frills. The Honest Caveat: hours are the catch. It’s historically run to around 4am, but current listings conflict, so call before you make a 3am trek. The Local Move: salt-and-pepper squid plus a bowl of congee. The Why: when it’s open late, there’s nothing else quite like it.

After the bars close: where to eat, by district
New York still lets bars serve until 4am. It has 13% fewer places to eat afterwards than it did in 2020 — Yelp’s own data for this city. So the useful question at 3:30am is not “what is open late” in general, it is “what is open here, tonight, on this day of the week” — because the day of the week is what nearly every guide gets wrong. We checked every closing time below against the venue’s own site rather than an aggregator, and the result is that exactly seven of these kitchens are verifiably cooking at 4am on an ordinary Tuesday: Stromboli, Gammeeok, Kellogg’s, the Donut Pub, Empanada Mama, Coppelia and the Halal Guys cart. Veselka and BCD Tofu join them at weekends only. Williamsburg Pizza is already shut. Sorted by the nightlife district each one actually serves.
Stromboli Pizza
The safest hour on this page and the answer to almost every East Village night. Open until 5am seven nights a week — not just Friday and Saturday, which is what separates it from nearly everything else here. Confirmed on two of their own domains, which is more sourcing than most late-night hours get anywhere. A plain slice is $4. It sits on the stretch of St Marks between First and Second that has the densest 2am foot traffic in the neighbourhood, so there is a line, and the line moves. The Local Move: it is a counter, not a kitchen, so nothing shuts an hour before the room does.
strombolipizza1976.com · See our East Village guide
Veselka
Correction first, because almost every guide gets this wrong: Veselka is not 24/7 any more. Round-the-clock service came back on 17 April 2026 and it came back weekends only. Monday to Thursday the door shuts at midnight. What you get instead is stranger and better — Friday it opens at 9am and simply does not close until Sunday night, one continuous fifty-eight-hour run. The Honest Caveat: turn up at 1am on a Tuesday looking for pierogi and you are standing on Second Avenue looking at a locked door. Plan Stromboli instead.
veselka.com · See our East Village guide
The Donut Pub
Sits on the 14th Street and Seventh Avenue corner that drains the Meatpacking clubs and the L, 1, 2 and 3 at the same time, and it is open every hour of every day. That corner placement is the entire reason it works — you do not have to decide where you are going, you walk into it. The Honest Caveat: there is essentially nowhere to sit, so this is a grab-and-keep-walking stop rather than a place to sober up in. Their own site files it under “West Village” but the address is on the Chelsea side of 14th.
donutpub.com · See our Chelsea guide
Coppelia
Two doors from the Donut Pub, which makes this block the real answer for anyone leaving the Meatpacking clubs rather than either venue on its own. Cuban diner, cooking properly at 4am, $17 for the Cuban sandwich and $25–30 for ropa vieja. The Honest Caveat: their own site and OpenTable both say 24 hours, while the venue’s own live ordering page says 7am to 5am — a two-hour gap nobody has reconciled. We are publishing the more conservative 5am. Either way it is cooking when the bars empty. Same ownership as Kellogg’s in Williamsburg, which their menu states outright.
ilovecoppelia.com · See our West Village guide
Kellogg’s Diner
The nearest genuine 24-hour room to the Bushwick warehouse belt, and the honest framing is that it is a walk or a car rather than a stumble — because nothing in Bushwick proper survived our hours check. Reopened September 2024 under new ownership after a long dark stretch, so every guide entry written before 2024 is describing a different restaurant. Lomo saltado $28. The Honest Caveat: Time Out prints the address as 514 Metropolitan and hedges “24/7 five days a week” against its own “daily 24 hrs”. Their own site says 518 and seven days. Own site wins.
kelloggsdinernyc.com · See our Williamsburg guide
Williamsburg Pizza
Include it with the caveat attached, because the caveat is the point: this is the 2am answer, not the 4am one. Friday and Saturday it shuts at 3am, Thursday at 2am, and Sunday to Wednesday it is done before midnight. A Brooklyn roundup published in January 2026 prints “4am weekends”, which is wrong by a full hour — and that hour is exactly when you need it, because New York bars serve until 4. Go Here Instead if it is past three: Kellogg’s on Metropolitan is the only round-the-clock kitchen in north Brooklyn we could verify.
williamsburgpizza.com · See our Williamsburg guide
Gammeeok
Genuinely 24 hours, which on 32nd Street is rarer than the block’s reputation suggests. Ox-bone soup at $16.99, or $19.99 for the deluxe with tongue and ox-knee — the correct order at 4am by some distance. Correction: most guides still print 43 W 32nd St. That is the old Gahm Mi Oak room and Yelp marks it closed. Gammeeok is at 9 W 32nd, on the second floor, and the second floor matters at three in the morning when you are looking for a door that is not at street level.
gammeeok.net · See our Koreatown guide
BCD Tofu House
The correction that matters most on this page. BCD is not 24 hours and has not been — their own locations page says Sunday to Thursday it closes at 1am. The “24-hour Koreatown” framing that shows up in every late-night list is wrong five nights out of seven. What is true is better than the myth: Friday and Saturday it runs to 5am, which is an hour past last call, so two nights a week it is one of the few rooms in Manhattan still cooking after the bars have emptied. On a Tuesday at 1:30am it is dark. Go to Gammeeok.
bcdtofuhouse.com · See our Koreatown guide
The Halal Guys
The original cart, and its own site publishes a full day-by-day hours table — the cleanest primary source we found in this entire research pass, and a small miracle in a category where nobody publishes anything. Four in the morning Monday to Thursday, five on Friday and Saturday, which means it is open at the exact moment the bars stop serving rather than an hour before. The Honest Caveat: the 3am Saturday line is long and everybody in it is having the same idea you are. It is a cart, so nothing closes early.
thehalalguys.com · See our Times Square guide
Empanada Mama
The only verified round-the-clock kitchen west of Eighth Avenue in the theatre-district catchment, which makes it the default after a late show or a Ninth Avenue night. Open 24/7 by their own location page. The Honest Caveat, and it is a small one worth knowing if you are searching: their own site prints the postcode as 10010. It is wrong — 765 Ninth Avenue at 51st is 10019 — so a map search on their published zip sends you to Gramercy. Search the street address, not the postcode.

BCD Tofu House for soft-tofu stew to 5am on weekends, and Kang Ho Dong Baekjeong for KBBQ to 2am Friday and Saturday.

Joe’s on Carmine Street to 4am on weekends, or Artichoke in the East Village to 5am every night.
Where can I eat after the bars close in NYC?
Seven kitchens are verified as still cooking at 4am on a weeknight. In the East Village, Stromboli Pizza on St Marks runs to 5am seven nights, $4 a slice. Only at weekends. Veselka brought back round-the-clock service on 17 April 2026, but Fridays and Saturdays only. Monday to Thursday it closes at midnight and Sunday it closes at 11pm. In practice that means it opens Friday morning and does not close again until Sunday night. The same correction applies to BCD Tofu House in Koreatown, which is widely listed as 24 hours and is not — its own site says 1am Sunday to Thursday, 5am Friday and Saturday. For a genuine any-night option in Koreatown, go to Gammeeok.
