Kettl in Greenpoint
Kettl is a Japanese green-tea company’s flagship cafe in the heart of Greenpoint, a stylish, minimalist tea house near the Greenpoint Av G stop. Founded by Zach Mangan, it sources single-origin teas directly from growers in Japan and stone-mills its own matcha in-house, which is rare in the US.
The space works on two levels: a to-go counter and communal table for a quick matcha, and a dedicated six-seat tasting counter for a slower, guided exploration of sencha, gyokuro and houjicha. Alongside the drinks it sells loose-leaf tea, ceramics and tea tools, so you can take the ritual home.
What to Expect
There is no happy hour here. Kettl is a Japanese tea house focused on quality rather than discounts, pouring matcha lattes like the signature cortado matcha, brewed single-origin teas and matcha-forward sweets throughout the day. For the full experience, book the six-seat tasting counter on Resy; walk-in to-go service is available too.
