No happy hour here, and we are not going to invent one — this is a counter, and the value is in the everyday price. A cheese slice is $4 and every other slice is $5, including both grandma squares. Hot honey is a dollar. Whole pies run $30 for cheese and $34 for everything else. Argentinian empanadas — beef, ham and cheese, or corn — are $6 each or $30 for a half dozen. Closed Tuesdays. The kitchen runs to 1am on Friday and Saturday.

Lamonte Pizza: Grandma Squares and $4 Slices a Block Off the Bedford L

Lamonte Pizza is the newest slice counter in Williamsburg, and the cheapest good one. It opened this summer at 558 Driggs Avenue, directly across the street from Lamonte, the New American bistro the same owners have been running at 557 Driggs for five years. Their own line for it is “same soul, new slice,” which is about right: the restaurant does oysters and $10 martinis, the pizza window does $4 cheese and grandma squares, and they are forty feet apart.

The pitch is straightforward. New York rounds and thick, crisp-edged grandma squares, sold by the slice or the tray, plus a rack of Argentinian empanadas that no other pizza counter in the neighborhood is making. It is a block from the Bedford Avenue L, it takes pickup and delivery through Toast and Uber Eats, and it stays open to 1am on Friday and Saturday. It is a counter rather than a room — the sitting-down version is across the street.

The Menu and What It Costs

Every price below is from Lamonte Pizza’s own ordering menu, checked on 9 August 2026.

  • By the slice — cheese $4; pepperoni, Rosa, Classic, Bianca and mushrooms, and Calabrian all $5. Hot honey adds $1.
  • Whole pies — cheese $30; pepperoni, Rosa, Classic, Bianca and Calabrian all $34.
  • Empanadas — beef, ham and cheese, or corn, $6 each. Half dozen $30.
  • Dessert — chocolate mousse $6. Sodas and San Pellegrino $3–$5.

The two grandma squares are the Classic and the Calabrian, and they are the reason to come. Thick base, crisp where it meets the tray, cut square. The rounds are a perfectly good New York slice, but they are not doing anything the rest of the city is not. Order the Calabrian, add the hot honey, and you have spent $6.

The Local Move

A Calabrian grandma square with hot honey plus one beef empanada is $12 and eats like lunch. If you are two people and want to make an evening of it, get the squares at the counter, then cross Driggs to the bistro for the $10 martinis and $2.50 oysters — the happy hour there runs all day Sunday through Thursday, which is the best-value pairing on this block. The Honest Caveat

Three things to know before you walk over. It is closed on Tuesdays. There is a genuine conflict in their own posted hours — the website lists a noon opening on Monday and Wednesday while the online-ordering window does not open until 4pm on those days, so call before a midday trip early in the week. And it is six weeks old: the squares are already good, but this is a new counter, not a decade-old institution, and we would rather say that than oversell it.

Lamonte Pizza FAQ

How much is a slice at Lamonte Pizza?

A cheese slice is $4 and every other slice is $5, including the Classic and Calabrian grandma squares, the Rosa, the pepperoni and the Bianca with mushrooms. Hot honey adds $1. Whole pies are $30 for cheese and $34 for everything else, and Argentinian empanadas are $6 each or $30 for a half dozen.

Where is Lamonte Pizza?

558 Driggs Avenue in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, one block from the Bedford Avenue L and directly across the street from the Lamonte bistro at 557 Driggs, which is run by the same owners.

What are Lamonte Pizza’s hours?

Noon to 10pm Sunday, Monday and Wednesday, noon to 11pm Thursday, and noon to 1am Friday and Saturday. Closed Tuesdays. One thing to watch: their online-ordering window opens at 4pm rather than noon on Monday and Wednesday, so call ahead if you are going early in the week.

What should I order at Lamonte Pizza?

The grandma squares. The Classic and the Calabrian are thick, crisp at the edges and cut square, and they are better than the round slices. Add the dollar of hot honey to the Calabrian. After that, the Argentinian empanadas at $6 are the thing no other slice counter in Williamsburg is making.

Does Lamonte Pizza deliver?

Yes. Pickup and delivery both run through Toast and Uber Eats, covering Williamsburg and the surrounding Brooklyn neighborhoods. There is no table service — it is a counter, so for a sit-down meal the bistro is directly across the street.
