Looking for a drink deal instead? → Greenpoint happy hours

The best restaurants in Greenpoint right now are Restaurant Yuu and Oxomoco, which hold the neighborhood’s two Michelin stars, and Pierozek, which holds a Bib Gourmand for handmade pierogi — reportedly the only Polish restaurant in the Michelin Guide anywhere in the United States. That is the shape of Greenpoint in 2026: a serious tasting counter, a wood-fired Mexican room, and a hundred-year-old Polish inheritance that turned out to be the most durable thing here. This is a food page. Drink deals, prices and happy hour windows live on our Greenpoint happy hour guide instead. Two things to say up front, because most guides to this neighborhood are now wrong. Greenpoint lost three serious restaurants in five months — Ilis on 28 May 2026, Achilles Heel in February, Nura in January — and all three are still being recommended. And Glasserie and 21 Greenpoint are not current Bib Gourmands; both were awarded in 2023 and neither is on the 2025 list. Every venue below was checked against its own website in August 2026.

The four to book

Two current Michelin stars and the two rooms people plan a night around. For the wider city list see our best restaurants in NYC guide.

Restaurant Yuu Open now

One Michelin star, a counter and two seatings · 55 Nassau Ave $$$
Tasting menu$300
HoursTue–Sat, seatings at 6pm and 8:30pm

The most serious cooking in Greenpoint and the shortest odds of getting in. Yuu took a Michelin star in November 2023 and holds it in the current 2025 guide, running a French-Japanese counter out of a room on Nassau Avenue with two seatings a night, four nights a week. The tasting is $300 and that is the only number on the site — there is no a la carte, and the local move is to stop looking for one. Two honest caveats. Their own site says plainly they cannot accommodate some dietary restrictions, so ask before you book rather than after. And it is Tock-only: there is no walk-in version of this restaurant.

Oxomoco Open now

Wood-fired Mexican, one Michelin star since 2021 · 128 Greenpoint Ave $$$
Pollo a las brasas$59
HoursBrunch Mon–Fri 12–3pm, Sat–Sun from 11am · dinner daily 5–10pm

The other star, and the more useful one, because you can get in. Oxomoco has held a Michelin star since 2021 and cooks almost everything over wood, which is the whole argument — the half chicken at $59 is the dish, tacos run $25 to $34, and the Wagyu bavette is $90. It is the rare starred room in this city that serves brunch, seven days, which is the local move: come at noon midday for a fraction of the ceremony. A note, because it circulates: there was a fire at this address in June 2025. The restaurant is open and trading normally. The honest caveat is the 3-to-5 gap — the door genuinely locks between services.

Glasserie Open now

Mezze in a former glass factory, far north · 95 Commercial St $$$
No published prices—
HoursMon–Thu 5:30–10pm · Fri–Sun 11am–11pm

Worth the walk to the top of Commercial Street, which is further than anyone expects and part of the point — you end up somewhere that does not feel like the rest of the neighborhood. The cooking is Mediterranean mezze and the weekend service runs straight through from 11am to 11pm, which is the longest continuous stretch on this page. Now the correction, because you will read otherwise: Glasserie’s Bib Gourmand was awarded in 2023 and it is not on the current 2025 list. It is a good restaurant either way. It is not a current Bib, and the guides still saying so are three years behind. Monday to Thursday it does not open until 5:30pm.

Arthur Open now

Parisian bistro, opened this April · 132 Franklin St $$$
No published prices—
HoursDinner Tue–Sat 5–10pm · lunch Fri–Sat 12–2pm only

The newest thing here worth a reservation. Arthur opened in April 2026 doing modern Parisian bistro cooking with Northeast produce, and it landed on Resy’s Hit List by June, which in this neighborhood means the room fills before the reviews do. It publishes no prices, so go in without a number in mind. The honest caveat is the schedule, and it strands people: closed Sunday and Monday, and lunch exists only on Friday and Saturday, for two hours, from noon. Everything else is a five-o’clock dinner. Turn up on a Tuesday at one and you are looking at a locked door on Franklin Street.

The Polish rooms, and which ones are actually left

Greenpoint has been losing these for years — Łomżynianka and Irene’s are long gone. These four are open, and one of them has a Michelin Bib Gourmand.

Pierozek Open now

A Bib Gourmand. For pierogi. · 592 Manhattan Ave $$$
Ruskie pierogisee caveat
HoursMon–Sat 12–10pm · Sun 12–8pm

The best story on this page. Pierozek makes something like two thousand pierogi a day by hand and holds a Michelin Bib Gourmand in the current 2025 guide — reportedly the only Polish restaurant in the guide anywhere in the United States. Order the ruskie, potato and cheese, before you get clever with the jalapeño ones. It is open from noon every day, which makes it the most reliable lunch in Greenpoint. Two caveats: they publish no prices anywhere, and reservations start at parties of ten, so everyone else queues. The room is small and the queue is real. It is still the thing to do here.

Karczma Open now

Barn-themed Polish, built for a table of eight · 136 Greenpoint Ave $$$
No published prices—
HoursMon–Thu 12–10:30pm · Fri–Sat 12–11:30pm · Sun 12–10pm

The one to bring people to. Karczma is done out like a Polish barn, which sounds like a theme restaurant and functions as the best group dinner in the neighborhood — bigos, golábki, potato pancakes, kielbasa platters, all of it built to be passed around. It runs to 11:30 on Friday and Saturday, later than anything else on this list, and opens at noon seven days. No prices published. One thing worth knowing that no guide mentions: the same owner also runs Retro further up Manhattan Avenue, so if this room is full you are not starting from scratch — you are walking eight blocks to the sibling.

Restaurant Relax Open now

Nine tables, open since 1997, soup · 68A Newel St $$$
No published prices—
HoursMon–Thu 12–8:30pm · Fri–Sat 12–9pm · closed Sun

Smallest and oldest of the Polish rooms, on a side street off Nassau where nobody wanders by accident, and open since 1997. The order is soup — the sour pickle, zupa ogórkowa, or the white borscht — and then a pork cutlet the size of the plate. This is the one that tells you what Greenpoint ate before anyone was writing about it. Two honest caveats and they matter: it is closed Sundays, and the kitchen stops at 8:30pm most nights, the earliest last call of any room on this page. It is genuinely tiny. Do not arrive at eight with six people.

Retro Polish Open now

The old Christina’s, reopened with a price list · 853 Manhattan Ave $$$
Hunter’s stew (bigos)$15
HoursDaily 9:30am–10pm · breakfast until 2pm

The only room in this section that publishes what things cost, and it is a relief: white borscht $9, potato pancakes $15, hunter’s stew $15, chicken schnitzel $19, duck confit $26. It also serves breakfast until 2pm every single day, which nothing else Polish here does, and it opens at 9:30. That combination makes it the practical answer more often than the famous ones. The honest part: this was Christina’s, a forty-year Greenpoint institution, until Karczma’s owner reopened it as Retro in May 2025. It is a good restaurant. Some longtime regulars will tell you it is not Christina’s, and they are not wrong either.

Brunch and all-day

Where to eat between 9am and 4pm, including the only seven-day brunch in the neighborhood. More options in our best brunch in NYC guide.

Chez Ma Tante Open now

The pancake. That is the whole entry. · 90 Calyer St $$$
No published prices—
HoursDinner daily 5–10pm · brunch Sat–Sun 10am–3pm

Greenpoint’s default brunch answer, and it earned it with one dish: pancakes thick enough and buttered hard enough that people plan a Saturday around them. The rest of the menu is a good European-leaning neighborhood restaurant and the dinner service runs seven nights, which is easy to forget given what it is famous for. Resy only, no published prices, and the weekend books out. One thing to know rather than a warning: the chef who built this kitchen left in July 2026 for another room in the neighborhood. The restaurant is open and unchanged on paper. Whether it is unchanged on the plate is the sort of thing worth finding out yourself.

Five Leaves Open now

8am to 11pm, seven days, the busiest corner · 18 Bedford Ave $$$
No published prices—
HoursDaily 8am–11pm, continuous

Fifteen hours a day, seven days a week, no gap between services — nothing else here comes close, and that is the reason to know about it rather than the food, which is a perfectly good Australian-leaning all-day menu. If it is 3:40pm and you need to eat sitting down in Greenpoint, this is the answer and it is close to the only one. The honest caveat is the corner: Bedford and Lorimer at the Williamsburg line is the most trafficked door in the neighborhood, and it feels like it at peak. Come at four on a weekday and it is a different, much better restaurant than it is at eleven on a Sunday.

Sereneco Open now

Brunch seven days, which nobody else does · 113 Franklin St $$$
Restaurant Week dinner$45
HoursBrunch daily from 9:30am · dinner 5–9pm, later Fri–Sat

The quiet answer to the question everyone actually has, which is where to get a proper brunch on a Tuesday. Sereneco serves it every day — 9:30 on weekdays, 9 at weekends — and it is the only room on this page that does. There is a to-go window from 8am if you are not sitting down. Dinner is Italian-leaning New American and the Restaurant Week three-course runs $45, which is the only published number on the site. The honest caveat is the afternoon: brunch stops at 3:30 and dinner starts at 5, and that hour and a half in between is genuinely closed.

Border Town Open now

Breakfast tacos, flour tortillas, weekends only · 189 Nassau Ave $$$
No published prices—
HoursSat 9am–10pm · Sun 9am–9pm · Wed–Fri dinner only · closed Mon–Tue

Opened in January 2026 in the old Busy Bee space and does the thing New York is worst at: a proper flour-tortilla breakfast taco. It opens at 9am on Saturday and Sunday, which is the earliest weekend door of any sit-down restaurant on this page, and that is when to go. Now the caveat, and it is a good one, because it is exactly backwards from what you would assume: this is a breakfast taco restaurant that does not serve breakfast on weekdays. Wednesday to Friday it opens at five in the evening. Monday and Tuesday it does not open at all. Check the day before you walk over.

Cheap, quick and worth the walk

Taqueria Ramirez Open now

Suadero off the plancha, standing room · 94 Franklin St $$$
No published prices—
HoursTue–Sun 12–10pm · closed Mon

The best cheap food in Greenpoint and it is not close. Mexico City-style tacos off a plancha, suadero the thing to order, open noon to ten six days a week. Giovanni Cervantes was a James Beard semifinalist in 2023 for the cooking here — semifinalist, not a winner, and worth stating precisely because his 2026 nomination was for Carnitas Ramirez in Manhattan, a different restaurant. Two caveats from their own site. It is dine-in only, so there is no takeout escape hatch if the room is full. And it is closed Mondays. They publish no prices and no payment policy, so bring cards and cash and stop worrying about it.

Frankel’s Delicatessen Open now

Bagels, smoked fish, shut by half two · 631 Manhattan Ave $$$
No published prices—
HoursDaily 8:30am–2:30pm

A proper contemporary Jewish deli doing bagels, smoked fish and pastrami, and the single most important thing to know about it is the clock. Frankel’s opens at 8:30 and is done at 2:30, every day, no exceptions. This is a morning restaurant that a lot of people find out about at four in the afternoon, standing outside a closed door on Manhattan Avenue with a sandwich in mind. Go early, get the whitefish, sit outside. No prices published. The one soft spot in the data: the 8:30 open is on their own site, but the 2:30 close comes from their ordering platform rather than the site itself, so treat the last half hour as the part to phone about.

Taku Sando Open now

Katsu sando on milk bread, counter only · 29 Greenpoint Ave $$$
No published prices—
HoursDaily 11:30am–8pm

Katsu sandwiches on proper Japanese milk bread, from a counter on Greenpoint Avenue, every day from 11:30 to 8. It is the cheapest good lunch here that does not involve queueing for pierogi, and the eight o’clock close makes it a real early-dinner option rather than a strictly midday one. There is essentially nowhere to sit, which is the caveat and also the point — the walk down to Transmitter Park with a sando in hand is the intended version of this meal. No prices published on their site, so this is one to look at the counter board for.

Union Square restaurants: FAQ

What are the best restaurants in Greenpoint?

Restaurant Yuu and Oxomoco hold Greenpoint’s two Michelin stars — Yuu is a $300 tasting counter open four nights, Oxomoco is wood-fired Mexican with brunch seven days. Pierozek holds a current Bib Gourmand for handmade pierogi. Glasserie and Arthur round out the four rooms worth booking.

Where can I get good Polish food in Greenpoint?

Four Polish rooms are still open. Pierozek at 592 Manhattan Ave has a Michelin Bib Gourmand for its pierogi. Karczma at 136 Greenpoint Ave is the group dinner. Restaurant Relax at 68A Newel St has been going since 1997 and closes Sundays. Retro Polish at 853 Manhattan Ave publishes real prices and serves breakfast until 2pm daily. Łomżynianka and Irene’s Place have both closed.

Is Glasserie still a Bib Gourmand?

No. Glasserie’s Michelin Bib Gourmand was awarded in 2023 and it is not on the current 2025 list. The same applies to 21 Greenpoint. Both are still good restaurants and several guides still describe them as current Bib Gourmands, which is three years out of date. The only current Bib Gourmand in Greenpoint is Pierozek.

Which Greenpoint restaurants have closed?

Ilis at 150 Green St closed permanently on 28 May 2026 after losing its lease — its chef Mads Refslund was a 2026 James Beard semifinalist, so it still appears in award roundups. Achilles Heel closed in February 2026 after 13 years and Nura in January 2026. Also gone: Łomżynianka, Anella, Lobster Joint and Esme. The original Paulie Gee’s rebranded as Me and Paul’s, a bar — the Paulie Gee’s Slice Shop on Franklin St is a separate business and still open.

Where should I eat brunch in Greenpoint?

Sereneco at 113 Franklin St is the only place serving brunch seven days a week, from 9:30am on weekdays and 9am at weekends. Chez Ma Tante on Calyer St is the famous one, weekends 10am to 3pm, and the pancakes are the reason. Border Town opens at 9am on Saturday and Sunday for breakfast tacos. Five Leaves runs 8am to 11pm every day.
